Rumor of a six month 200K RN position in Iraq????

Published

My friend who's a fellow RN told me about open nursing positions in Iraq. Apparently they are so desperate for nurses there they are offering $200K for just 6 months.

Any info on this? I tried googling it but with no luck :(

now this happen back when the war first started so i don't know if it is still pertinent but this friend of mine her husband was a paramedic and he went to iraq she worked here and they put all of his money on the house payment and they had paid $120,000 by the time that he came back

there was a company at the same time were hiring discharged service men who had been to iraq and the pay was like $150k

look really good before you leap

I would not go to iraq for 200k a day, my life is far more than that amount of money.

I think what you make in Iraq is even tax free.

85% is tax free. The rest is taxable. They are paying regular security guards 90000 and I saw jobs for cooks for 85000.

Also, don't you have to stay out of the US for a full calendar year in order for the income to be tax-free, or is there an exception to that rule for Iraq??

That I do not know...

The only thing I could find was a medic job through kbr https://kbr.myvurv.com//main/careerportal/Job_Profile.cfm?szOrderID=5122&szReturnToSearch=1&szWordsToHighlight=nurse

I wouldn't ever trust my life to kbr. EVER.

I do know of a couple of contractors who do hire in the medical field. What the wages are....I have no idea, but I'm quite sure they pay well due to being in a hazardous area. One of them if I remember correctly a person would be there for 90 days, home for 90 days, etc.

yes they are paying between 30,000 to 35,000 a month. my husband is deployed and yes it is in a tax free zone.

Not for me, thanks. I value my life more. And the idea of doing anything that makes me look like I support George W. and his war makes me sick.

Specializes in Wannabe NICU/PED Nurse.

Well no matter if its true or not, I don't think it is worth it. [Maybe if I didn't have a daughter and only had to take care of me- I might consider it]- Is it nurses for the Iraquis? Or Nurses for our soldiers? B/c I would think the Military would already have Nurses deployed over there... And I wouldn't want to be a Nurse for the Iraquis- you wouldn't know who to trust....
