Can someone who has taken this course take a look at this practice test and let me know if it is in fact similiar to the one given. I am taking the course next week and want to know what to expect. i took this practive test and did not do so hot so now i am a bit concerned, thanks
  2. I have only seen a couple of these threads but with very few responses. I already have 3 nursing classes towards my BSN out of the way and am looking to complete the rest totaly online. The trouble it, there are far too many to choose from and at such a high price feel i need some direction before jumping in blindly. Thanks
  3. Is anyone sure of when the requirements for Nurse Practioner change from Masters to Doctorate?? Signing off- PDaddy
  4. Well I did tell the family that his heart never went into a shockable rhythm according to the interrogation; that's why they think it didn't fire.
  5. I work in med/surg/trauma ICU at an inner city level ! trauma hospital. I had a pt. the other day that came in from a cardiac event and required the hypothermia protocol. He was 58 and living in an ECF when his ICD fired off 77 times non warranted due to a recalled fractured lead. According to the interrogation of his ICD his heart was never in a shockable rhythm. I'm assuming that the shocks caused an S on T rhythm or an ischemic event throwing the heart into asystole. This patient was warmed back up and ran through the brain death protocol and finally pulled off the vent and pronounced yesterday. My dilemma is that the family does not know about the fractured lead in his ICD and that's what ultimately killed him. Obviously this could cost the company millions of dollars and bad business fro the hospital so I was instructed by the cardiologist and upper management to not disclose this information to the family. However I know if it were my father lying dead on that hospital bed I would sure want to know the truth. What would you do?
  6. Tricia, do you by chance think you could help me out with some contact information? Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  7. My friend who's a fellow RN told me about open nursing positions in Iraq. Apparently they are so desperate for nurses there they are offering $200K for just 6 months. Any info on this? I tried googling it but with no luck
  8. I have worked as a chef (small grill chef) in the past and i know all too well the rigors of working in a busy kitchen when you're slammed. i would hold your opinion as an authority over many other's. Thank you kind sir and much luck with your classes
  9. As long as you stay above 50% with the qbank questions you'll do fine. I took it last year and was faced with the same dilemma (scoring WAY higher from Saunder's) and this made me nervous as well. I averages around 55-65 through Kaplan and i would be surprised if i answered a single question wrong. you'll nail it, just keep up with the questions and stay positive!
  10. Wow, thank you soooo much for the great info, it will help us out more then you know it. So sorry for the SUPER late reply, waaay too many things going on at once. it seems our move will be taking place after completion of my BSN in 20 months . I was going to finish it up there but I'm contracted through my current hospital and don't feel like paying them back 10k! I'm actually dealing with a realitor who sends me listings in AA within the price range nearly daily. There is much more to choose from there then i had anticipated. It's all a bit of a tease right now but it keeps my eye on the prize and motivation strong. Thanks again for all the help everyone, and keep the positive comments and suggestions coming!
  11. I'm in the market for a new work shoe and have been doing my research. My gf who is also an RN swears by Dansko's as i see many others on this board do as well. I however have yet to see any comments from the men on this issue
  12. This is a great idea that I never even considered. i will definetly be looking farther into this option, thanks! Sarah and Alex, it would be great to get advice from someone that's in the area already. I suppose the two biggest questions at hand wold be which departments rank slightly better than any of the others. I work in a pretty grueling med/surg ICU step-down at a level 1 trauma hospital right now getting all kinds of drips, vents trauma's and fresh surgeries so I get a taste of just about everything. If I were unable to get into an ICU internship program which unit would help transition me into an ICU the best? Also where is a good area to live? I love the downtown area and what Kerrytown/main street area have to offer, however i doubt we could afford rent on most of the places in that area. (looking to rent first). I guess a decent location within walking distance to the markets?downtown at a resonable price. Is this too much to ask?? We're not really looking to pay much over 1200.00 a month. Thanks for all the helpful advice everyone, Paul
  13. So my girlfriend (RN of 3 years) and I (RN of .5 years) are planning on a move to Ann Arbor in hopes of employment at the U of M hospital. I'm interested in getting into an ICU as soon as I can to get the year experience needed for their CRNA program. The job postings I've been seeing though suggest that I just get my foot in the door before even attempting an ICU position, I am aware that I'm still very wet behind the ears . She's interested in peds while working for her masters. I did see a ton of peds openings luckily for her. She's also currently working for a traveling agency, but wants to get out due to the unlikelihood of an Ann Arbor job popping up any time soon. My question is, is there anyone familiar with the area and/or hospital. I will be moving from Toledo and she will be moving from Cleveland. Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Well congratulations! I took it on monday as well and still nothing! I think I'm going to make the state pay for the treatment of this ulcer they have provided me, lol
  15. Did you find out from checking the website or did you pay the 7 or so bucks to find out? What day did you take the test?
