I live in Nc and here they have CNA ll and the program sounds interesting. The job description is a basically more advanced training than a cna 1. I know it isn't all about money but I want to be comfortable while in school and not so stressed. I had bad experiences as cna 1, in a LTCF and it just turned me off. I was so tired and stressed I couldn't get work done. A Cna ll is kinda like pca/pct. Alot of hospitals and hospices are hiring for them. My thing is I can't find the pay rate and difference in pay from cna 1 to cna 2? The program is $700 and is for 8 weeks.. does the sound like it's worth it? what did you do while in nursing school?
Worked in mental health while in LPN school(2012). Worked as an LPN in LTC, Home Health, & for agency as school, bus, & 1:1 nurse while attending in AAS-RN school(2013/2014). Will begin my BSN in Sept for 12 months (2014/2015). You can do it. Time flies & you won't regret any of it! Lifetime career!
Brandy I understand what your saying. But the pay is more for na ll. They're very high in demand. I understand what your saying about the nursing home experience. I'm still dramatised from the one I'm working. I have 3 days until my two weeks is up. Its just pay is very low for cna 1 and was hoping to make more and gain more advanced skills. I could be wrong.
I'm just lost trying to find a course where I can support my niece and I until I finish Ns.

In NC i thought that the facility can train you to become a Cna 2?
Out of high school I became a full time CNA, made 4.25/hr at a NH. Went into the PN program, don't remember how much that cost to go, but after graduating I stayed on at the NH for a bit of experience. I made 9 bucks an hour and was super happy about it! Stayed on for about a year to work on a few skills and moved on to a hospital. While I went back for my ADN, it was with mad purpose; I held a full time position in psych as an LPN, and a part time job as an asthma peer health educator at a clinic, and attended two schools simultaneously just to finish at my self appointed time. At the first college I made the Deans list a few times. To this day, I don't know what I was thinking to take on so much at one time. Oh, had a hubby and kid too.
I had a BA in accounting in which I was working full time days while getting my BSN on the evening/weekend nursing program
Why'd you leave accounting? Didn't it pay well? There are times I wish I was doing something like accounting esp when dealing with difficult patients or families. Times when peace and quiet and no interaction would be nice.
Since you guys are RNs do the can all seem like a smart move for $700. I'm not rich and I'm making crap on cna 1 pay. I was hoping cna ll would boost my pay and help me through nursing school. I don't have kids but I have my niece that I'm raising - with no help so yeah kids are kinda expensive. I heard can Los start out $12- $16 hr. Any feedback would be helpful!
Are you already in a RN program? If so I would wait most programs you can apply to be a CNA II after the second semester. Check into this before paying the $700

I was a cashier (and a maid at a sketchy motel for a summer, that was interesting)
