So, In applying to different places as a new grad awaiting my boards this month (so scared!!), I needed to provide a potential employer with my temporary license number. Went to look that up and it said "null and void." My first thought - What?!?! Then looked up my name under Registered Nurse and it said ACTIVE - With a license number and everything! I haven't even taken my boards...how could this happen?! Simple human error? I'm waiting for the line at the BON to free up, so I can call them and tell them that I can't be a RN yet!
...Although wish it so easy that you didn't have to spend countless hours studying for an exam that is going to make you more nervous than anything!!! :)

Wow, so you say you go to your state's professional licensing website, look up "you" and it states that you are a licensed registered nurse? Ha! Never heard that before, LOL! Could be that you are "active" but specifically as a graduate nurse. That is not allowed in IL, my state. But it is in WI, the state near me. I bet there is an answer to this one.

Another nurse with the same name?
Not sure. Just talked to the board and they have no idea how it happened! Same social and everything. They said I tested on a day that I worked 10 hours!! Need to figure this one out!!!

How do/did you have a temporary license number if you haven't taken the boards yet?
And...congratulations? LOL
Boy, do I feel bad for the person who DID take and pass the boards that day, and hasn't yet gotten credit for it!

A nurse with the same name. That is not possible. The board is unable to activate your license unless you take your boards.
It may say "Active" because you've been approved for a temporary license. You still need to take your boards.

Sounds like there is someone out there who tested, passed, and actually got your temporary license!
Bummer. What state are you in that has the three stooges working at the BON?

You did well on your NCLEX. Have to give advice to those who are getting ready to test!
Must have just been an error on their part. Was just told that they are unsure of how it happened as they were told someone with my name and SS# took the boards on the day I was working. I don't understand how this happens...It wasn't my temporary license...that was "null & void" and under Registered Nurse -it said "Active" with a license number. A total mistake on their part. And - Jenni811 - I realize that I have to take my boards still (as they are scheduled). I would never work under the pretense that I have taken (and passed) my boards when I haven't.

Maybe you were so traumatized by the NCLEX your brain suppressed the experience so much that you don't remember taking it.
*holds out hand* That will be $100.

The BON makes errors and I believe this was an error. When people look up my license it states that I graduated from a college I DID NOT attend in the year 2000! That is impossible since I was in the 8th grade in the year 2000. I contacted them twice to change it and hasn't happened yet. SMH
