RN to BSN online

Published

In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.

One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.

The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.

Although you stated affordable, I did the University of Phoenix online BSN and now the MSN and I find it totally doable. I'm going from an ADN to BSN to MSN in 30 months.

when you say ADN to BSN...that means you had your RN through a community college right? how was the program overall, what's the cost, is it all online, do you go to clinicals for each course or do you go at the end of all your classes. More info please

I am a student in an ADN program right now and will be graduating May 2010.

I would like to go either from ADN-BSN-MSN, or from ADN-MSN.

Since I have done things a little backwards, I also have 72 hours of core classes that are not nursing related.

Does anyone know how long it will take me to go from ADN-BSN or from ADN-MSN?

I am sort of at a loss for what to do and the information is so confusing when you go from website-website-website.

Please Help!!

I think it's just going to vary with the program you choose. Like you, I had many, many other hours of college credits outside of the nursing realm, which means that I'm heading pretty much into my "junior year" in the BSN world, without a lot of extra non-nursing courses.

I'm doing a BSN for now because I have no idea which flavor of MSN I'd even want.

After much research & dealing with different schools, including registering & seeing which classes they wanted repeated or added, I've decided to go with Oklahoma Wesleyan's new online program. It's more than I wanted to spend, but the cheaper schools all wanted me to repeat my sciences or add on a bunch more classes. I want to start my program now! Anyway, NO chemistry or stats required. Very easy to work with. My friend started their program in October, & is very pleased with the program.

I am very interested in SRU. I have an RN and two Masters degrees, BUT no BSN. I am thinking it would behove me to get one. I think SRU does not require Chemistry which I did not need, 20 years ago and don't want to go back and take it now.

The SRU brochure does not mention prerequisites. Are there any?

The brochure also states that nurses with a Bachelor's in another field only have to take 39 credits. I would be on board with that. I wonder if any of my previous courses would minimize the requirement.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Kevin

Hi all. I am considering Chamberlain College of Nursing online RN-BSN program. The question I have is: although they are accredited by the NLNAC and CCNE, the Bachelor's degree programs have received provisional approval from the Ohio Board of Regents and conditional approval from the Ohio Board of Nursing. These words provisional and conditional scare me. What exactly does that mean? I also read on another post that in order to be a BSN program with accreditation, a clinical component was required! I intend to call my BON (Ohio) but thought maybe you all could give me some insight or advice. Thanks.

I'm in Chamberlain's online BSN program. You have to have an unrestricted RN license for admission to the program, so taking the NCLEX isn't an issue with this program. PM me if you want further information.

I am just finishing up my ADN in April and will be unable to take the NCLEX until the end of April (due to the administration processing paperwork). Ideally, I would like to start a 12 month online ADN to BSN program by early June. It would be very helpful if I could find a program that does not have any clinical hours as I will be working full time. I plan to continue on to a CRNA program in 2 1/2 years so the program must be NLN accredited. Does anyone have suggestions as to what schools I should look into and the cost?

I decided to go with the Utica College online BSN program... the health assessment clinical is completed via webcam.. Taken 2 classes so far & they've been great. I started Fall 08 and will be grad Dec 09... depends on other credits you have earned but they seem pretty fair w transfer credits. Cost is $315 per credit hr and degree is actually conferred thru Syracuse University for the undergrad programs.

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences.

I agree that the RN to BSN program at the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences is definately worth a look. SACS & NLN accreditated and priced in the lesser third of programs out there. :yeah:
