RN to BSN online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.

One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.

The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.

OK, maybe someone has some ideas for me!!!!

i'm looking for an rn to BSN program online - ideally without a clinical component, that is fast. i dont want to be doing it for 2 years or so.

anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

Specializes in Med surg, Hospice, Geriatrics, AL, LTAC.

Hi Mskate,

Chamberlain College of Nursing has an online program that does not require a clinical component. They accept many transfer credits, and, depending on how many gen ed credits you need, you could complete the program in 12-18 months. Unfortunately for me, remains the algebra component. I am thinking I may have to take a class at the local community college. Hope this helps you!

What is tuition fee in Chamberlain College of Nursing for 1 credit for online RN to BSN program?

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

$546/credit.

Yes, that was my initial reaction, too. But Chamberlain made more sense for me because it would actually cost me LESS overall than the schools that were less expensive per credit because I received more credit for my 206 prior college credit hours, and didn't have to repeat anything. The total difference between Chamberlain and my next choice (with tuition around $360/credit) was like $1K.

Specializes in Rehab, Psych, Acute care, LTC, HH.

I am checking into Chamberlain College also. I had to ask for their curriculum, and saw that there are many classes they have, but I have never taken. They will be reviewing my transcript of course.

Another one I am checking out is University of Arllington RN to BSN. http://uta.academicpartnership.com/nursing.asp

They do have cllinical, BUT it corresponds to what you do on your job...if your facility sign up as an academnic partner...your nursing classes total is less than $5,000 and you can finish in 13 months if all prereqs are done. ALSO..you can take prereqs (general courses) along with nursing classes ALL ONLINE. From the credentials I see on some of these posts, ICU, CCU, etc., no matter where you work, get your employer to sign up. I have spoken to a rep from UT Arlington and they named various hospital systems such as Memorial Hermann, M.D. Anderson, and can't remember for sure HCA, just ask someone in your human resource/education department if they are in partnership (CHEAPER TUITION REIMBURSEMENT). I think it is worth looking at it. I plan on taking as many prereqs with a community college online, because I know I can get some assist with tutoring ALGEBRA, YUKKKKK.:banghead:

i didn't know uta went to a online program (rn- bsn) ...thanks for posting. the one thing about this program is you can only repeat courses like 3 times ( pre-classes)...i think i hold the record for repeating algebra....this is the way it used be anyway, that is why i never pursued uta..my husband is a student there and it is close relativly low tuitiion compared to others and very well respected... the campus is huge and i get lost just looking for the parking lot..any way here y'all also should check out the ut telecampus the rn to bsn program is via el-paso campus ..it is 5 courses (20 hours) but the issue with me is you have to complete 30 hours from there in order to graduate ... this leaves me with 10 hours to take there but i am course complete so there is nothing left to take....

Yes, the fact that Chamberlain is very generous with transferred credits was the main reason I signed up with them also. It will take me 2 years to finish, but that's because I'm only taking one course at a time. That's my choice. I'm taking my third course with them now. I love the program. The instructors, fellow students and support staff are fantastic!

I'm also doing one at a time to maximize my annual reimbursement dollars from work. :) Also on my third class -- I'm currently doing Diversity in the Professions (SOCS350). Not bad so far! I'll have 7 classes left after this one. Woo!

well i got admission into fort hayes university it is $161 per credit hour and it is online it is cheap compared to other schools so i am very happy

I need and RN-BSN or RN-MSN that is inexpensive and I can cover with my tuition reimbursement. Right now that is about $3800/year. I'm not in a huge hurry, I just need to cover with the least out of pocket that I can. Just read this entire post and am going to check out University of Wyoming (134/credit) and Fort Hayes (161/credit). Any opinions on these two would be greatly appreciated. I just started this process, so I am feeling very overwhelmed!! Or if anyone knows of other inexpensive schools I would check them out as well. THANKS!
