In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
bootynurse- i know this post was from a while ago but I am currently in the sru online rn-bsn program and I'm having difficulty feeling everything out? Did you actaully sit down and study or just kinda read as you took the tests? I've taken other online classes before & they were all a joke - like you didn't have to do anything. Any tips are appreciated! :)
Dang straight I study! I read everything that is assigned. I have found the SRU quizzes and tests fairly easy. Writing papers is a lot more work, and the group assignments are a real pain because everyone is geographically separated. I have worked my butt off in some of my classes to earn A's. I'm just taking one class at a time so I don't feel overwhelmed with school/work/motherhood.
What classes are you taking this semester? I'm taking 408: Nursing Care Delivery in a Managed Care Environment.

okay thanks haha. i'm taking health assessment, transitions, & informatics. They don't seem too bad - transitions is just writing papers & informatics is just quizzes & db's.
I do all the reading & that, I just didn't know if I needed to do more or something.
What have you found to be the most difficult courses??
So far, Assessment and Group Process have been the hardest for me. I was unable to start the clinical portion of Assessment until halfway through the semester because the instructor didn't send the necessary paperwork, despite me asking her about it every few days. I had to take an incomplete because I got started so late. Group Process was fun, but the big group project was a drag. Give me a class with lots of reading and DB and some tests, and I'm happy; other assignments I'm not too crazy about. I'm not looking forward to Community Health and Case Management because they have so much clinical, and the clinical portion of Assessment was a nightmare because of my SRU instructor.
If you're asking about Utica (I can't tell exactly which post you're referring to, so I'm assuming it's the last one), the website is here:

And if you're talking about Slippery Rock, the address is http://www.sru.edu.
Btw, I just happened to see that Mass. General Hospital has a RN to BSN program online, though it's a little pricey - $12,000. and it takes 14 months.Question - I know my BA in biology doesn't count for much other than I could start a masters program without the BSN. However, aren't there jobs where you specifically need the BSN? Also if anybody is doing an online BSN program, please tell me the price range. Umass has a year program, and I think it's a better deal than MGH, though I know Mass General has a worldwide reputation as a top hospital - don't know how that would translate to a program, though. Either way, I love online programs - the only hitch is you have to motivate yourself.
