In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
I'm almost done with my BSN through Indiana Wesleyan University. I will probably continue on for my Masters thru them. Their program is painless and I really enjoyed the format. No streaming video watching or any of that. Just strictly a bulletin board system which is alot less painful. I highly recommend them. They do NOT require chemistry or statistics. You can go to iwuonline and click their graduation requirements and you will see what is required there. I cannot say enough good about their program. I'm getting ready to do community health and management and then I will be DONE!! Yay!
I found this post extremely helpful, or here I thought it was. I thought may be UOW would be a great choice, since I have to pay everything out of pocket, but I just read another post: "UWYO Online RN-BSN BEWARE" Sounds like they do not give you in black and white what was transferred in, and add on more classes in the end. Anybody else have this problem? I know every school someone will complain about or have a bad experience, but I want to make my RN to BSN online experience a good one that will not cost a fortune!
I read the other post, & then several others about UofW. I just received my acceptance letter from the school, & am waiting on my transcript eval. This seemed the better fit for me now. Ugh?!!! Anyone else with this experience?

I just started with IWU, RN-BSN program. You are correct about the online format and bulletin board. So far I am enjoying it, currently in Nursing Informatics.

Btw, I just happened to see that Mass. General Hospital has a RN to BSN program online, though it's a little pricey - $12,000. and it takes 14 months.
Question - I know my BA in biology doesn't count for much other than I could start a masters program without the BSN. However, aren't there jobs where you specifically need the BSN? Also if anybody is doing an online BSN program, please tell me the price range. Umass has a year program, and I think it's a better deal than MGH, though I know Mass General has a worldwide reputation as a top hospital - don't know how that would translate to a program, though. Either way, I love online programs - the only hitch is you have to motivate yourself.

Indiana Wesleyan is about $15,000. A BSN is usually desired for management positions, pharmaceutical sales, education positions and a lot of other non-bedside nursing positions. I'm not sure if you already have your RN licensure, but it is required to do any of the RN to BSN programs and many require a minimum of one year of bedside nursing experience as well.
I'm currently in the RN-BSN program at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and my experience has generally been good (there was one lousy professor). It's NLN-accredited, inexpensive (~$800 per 3-credit class), has no travel requirement to PA, and has fewer general education requirements than many other programs. I would highly recommend it.
This question is for Tweety....
Do they(FCHS) offer online classes year round? I looked on the site, and right now they only have spring and summer ones up there..I think I'll miss the cutoff date for summer.
I almost didn't consider them because of the fact that they're a Christian school, but then I thought, I did 12 years of Catholic school where we prayed before every class so I can do this. Plus, it seems like a good program and it's more affordable that others I've looked at.
I'm a graduate of the ASN program through excelsior (well, it was Regents then in 1989!). Since I'm now a NY resident I was thinking of taking the BSN through them as well. Looking at the catalog, they seem to have changed it quite a bit. Are there now no performance exams required for the BSN (from RN) or am I missing something? Used to be CPNE (unless you have already taken, which of course I have) + 3 more exams IIRC. Seems to be quite a bit cheaper too, as there's just a pile of $200+ exams and the enrollment fee/yearly fee/graduation fee.
Did I miss a page or did it get completely revamped at some point? :)
is the RN-BSN online program difficult?
Hopefully I will start the program at FIU. I am an RN already with AA and AS

I am considering getting my RN to BSN to MSN but I wanted to know if any of the universities on here will allow me to get my Master's after my BSN?
What is the difference between the NLN and the CCLN approvals?
Thanks for all your help.
