  1. joyncaring I'm 2/3 of the way through the program at this point, hoping to finish about a year from now. The program isn't bad, but the group projects are, in my opinion, overly time consuming and unnecessary. There are 2-3 group projects per class, and it just wears me out!
  2. It's been a while since anyone posted here. I'd really like to hear from some current UoP students who have recently completed 590A&B. What were your topics? How did you and your mentor decide what you would do? Thanks for the help.
  3. I successfully completed the on line Chamberlain RN-BSN program while working full time. It took me a little over 2 years. I'm a diploma grad with a BA in a non-nursing field, so I had to do 6 general education courses. I survived and graduated about a year ago with Presidential Honors! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
  4. CarolRN I started at Chamberlain for the BSN in Sept 2008--I was 56 at the time, and had a lap chole the same day class started. I graduated October 2010 with GPA 3.93. You can do it!
  5. That was hysterical! But a parody? I though it was reality!
  6. I just started the MSN/Informatics program at UoP. I really want to do this program, but administration at UoP is making it very difficult. I'm told one story in the AM, the opposite in the PM and another the next day. I have complained to the Financial Supervisor, who seemed very unconcerned and basically told me that maybe I really didn't want to do this! And this is after I tried calling several times, only to be told that the entire state of AZ was having phone difficulties! I'm currently in HCS 504. Has anybody else found this course annoying and the questions intrusive? I have gone to grad school before, so maybe it's just me. This has me so annoyed and frustrated that I ducked into a stairwell at work and had a good cry over it. I told the Financial Supervisor that. She said "What do you want me to do about that?" Every time I suggested something, she said "No, I can't do that." One of the things I wanted done was to change my Academic Advisor--who wasn't sure what program I was in, and the Financial Advisor, who was telling me stories. She wouldn't do that either. At least she was able to put me on the "Don't call list." Several co-workers go to UoP and insist that this is not the usual UoP experience. If so, why am I being singled out? Thanks for the help.
  7. I had a similar experience with Walden in 2007. I had to explain poor grades dating from the 1970's. I've had an RN license since 1974, so what's the big deal? Also an excellent professional resume, which included a cum laude BA and graduate degree in another field in the 1980's. Walden still harped on the 1970 grade debacle. I ended up at Chamberlain for my BSN, which I finished in October 2010, and I'll start at University of Phoenix later this month for MSN/Informatics. Give Walden a pass, and find another school.
  8. I graduated October 24! Thanks to everybody here for all the help. And good luck to those continuing in the program.
  9. I did obesity for mine. Ties in nicely with diabetes.
  10. You're welcome! You can send me a private message with your email and I'll send it as a .pdf attachment. Since it's Saturday, I'm in and out of the house doing errands. I'll leave the computer on, so I'll know as soon as you send the PM.
  11. The next session starts on 7/5/10. I'd say you might be able to get everything ready by then, if your transcripts are readily available. Good luck! I started the program in Sept 2008. I only take 1 course at a time. Getting ready to graduate Oct. 2010.
  12. This morning, I was clearing out my old (back to when I started in 2008) emails from Chamberlain. I found a .pdf file of several pages from Miller's book. I can email them to you if you want.
  13. Did you check the Chamberlain on line library? I think that's where I found it. There's a way to contact the on line librarian if you're having trouble finding the book. When is the paper due? Since it's the weekend, I'm not sure if the librarians are around.
  14. Have you checked the online library? Or medline? I took that course in Sept 2008--the first one I took at Chamberlain. I, too, wrote about Miller's Power Resources. For the life of me, I can't remember what I did about that paper--hold on, I've got a copy here--I found it, let's all hear it for packrats and large hard drives. Here's the book I used: Miller, J.F., RN, PhD., & FAAN. (2000). Coping with Chronic Illness: Overcoming Powerlessness (3rd ed., pp. 5-15). Philadelphia: F.A. Davis Company. Hope this helps.
  15. I'm getting my BSN with Chamberlain. I started Sept. 2008, and I'll finish Oct 2010, little over 2 years. I wanted to do only one course at a time, so that's why it's taken so long. Chamberlain staff is wonderful! The program is totally on line, no clinicals.
