I had had enough of the rotten attitude of this one assistant, the disrespect, the deserting of her post, the refusal to communicate with me and to tell me when she needs to leave the ward. She said she'd see me in the parking lot.
Supervisor basically backed me up, at least to my face. Wonder how she will portray it if it goes any further. Wish I could win the lottery and never have to go back to work. I just hate this type of stuff sooooo much. :o:o:o:crying2::crying2::cry::cry:

sounds like you have it pretty tough.
I don't understand why some assistants have such attitudes when you ask of a favor for them. Besides, that is what they are there for, as our assistants.
I was an assistant for almost 4 years before becoming an RN, and I never gave nurses attitude about doing something for them.
sometimes, I would be so busy and they would ask me to weigh a diaper, and inside I would be ****** because they were probably gossiping while the diaper would be just sitting there...... but I would not say anything, because it was my job to help them...... I always was very helpful to everyone I worked with.... and because I was so nice, the nurses complained about me to the director, saying that I didn't work hard enough or that I didn't help them.... well, I can't help everyone when I am the only assistant for 12 nurses in an PICU floor!!!
the nerve of them to do that to me, I left, became a float and loved it, everyone was nice to me, appreciative that I was there, I met lots of people, and it was awesome.
Now that I am an RN I work in a surgical floor, I don't ask much of the assistants. yes they are there to help me, and if I do need them for something I will ask, if I can do it myself, I will just do it myself.
I don't like getting attitude from people.

That is good that your supervisor backed you up. A friend of mine had a very rough time with an aide and her supervisor did nothing to back her up. She eventually changed floors because of this aide. How rediculous is that.

That business about "seeing you in the parking lot" did you interpet that as a threat? Sounded like one to me and making terroristic threats is against the law.

She said she'd see me in the parking lot.

That concerns me too. The young lady needs to know that garbage like that is unacceptable, and taken very seriously.

The last time I was in the hospital this is how my nurses were on one particular day. I had 2 nurses (because one was being orientated) these 2 nurses had 2 patients (in all not each) so they did pretty much everything. They did my vitals, and got anything I needed, the one who was being orientated said they had so few patients she felt bad having the assistants doing it.

Did you tell your supervisor about the threatening part?? Were there any witnesses to her saying this?
A few months ago, a very nasty aide told me the same thing. My manager at the time did nothing. I came to him, admitted that I told the aide to "kiss my butt" (this after so much garbage and insults) and that she then said she would see me in the parking lot (there were no witnesses to any of this). Naturally, this piece of trash lied and I was reprimanded for cussing (for being honest).
Before anyone jumps on me, yes I know I should not have said that. It was day 3 of 3 in a row, getting out late as ever, and this aide had always been so mean to me.

What the h e double hockey sticks?!
Meet you in the parking lot? What are we, like 12? Is this middle school? I wish I would "meet somebody in the parking lot" after having worked 12-13 hours. SMH.
Anyway, I consider that a threat. An old school one at that. I remembered when I worked in corporate america, one co-worker (who was clearly off her meds) told me she was gonna "meet me in the parking garage" and duke it out with me. I told her she better bring an army because I wasnt gonna go down that easy. Of course, she never did "meet me in the parking garage".
I'm glad the supervisor backed you up.
Is it just me, or some of the techs/aids that's been doing it for years just mean? During clinicals, the techs are just rude to us. Can't get a Dinamap or glucose machine to save our lives. And don't ask one of them if you can use it for your patient. You will get the sighs and the eyerolling and the "when I'm done with it" attitude.

This sounds like battery.
Many years ago my girlfriend who was an RN on a psych unit was told that she needed to let up on the MHWs because if she didn't they might not respond (stat) to a code when she needed them.
