Racial discrimination in Nursing....

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone..I just wish to know if there is some truth to this..well, some of my friends who are now in U.S.A. have talked to us here in the Philippines about some racial problems. When she arrived at Manhattan, she was given a lot of assignments in her area..which she did not mind at all at first. But, there came a time..that she wanted to question herself on why other american nurses are'nt as busy as her..or she has to forego lunch and dinner just to see to it that she has done her duty well...compared to others..who can really smile around and rub elbows with other nurses. She is one of the best nurses we have here..and she can speak the English language well.

She went to the point of really pouring out herself to a friend she had and was there really a great flood of tears.:scrying:

So..may I ask anyone? ..Who do you think really originated in this land of milk and honey? Aren't most of you now in the U.S. also were once from other nations too/? or maybe trace up your ancestors....I hope all nurses will protect nurses and love nurses..be they be black, white, red, yellow or brown. In this way, we stand up in our profession as One.

that was a nice opinion>>>thanks... :)

Having down time does not mean you are providing poor care.

Not sure if I did the quote right. But I agre with not being able to tell good nursing from bad nursing by amount of time free. I your friend has real issues she should ltake them up with the supervisor. unfortunately Nurses do not all take care of other nurses. In fact some nurses are strictly out to poop on everybody!

As an example look at the way they keep gutting each other in here!

Go find yourself a more enlightend, less racist country to live in.

Please review your own words before accusing me of hyperbole and misinterpretation.

Thank you

Man, how did I miss this one?!:chuckle Really, I don't get what all the fuss is about. I have heard people say the US is racist, I have heard them say Canada is racist. Both statements are true to some extent, but it doesn't offend me to hear them because I know I am not racist. I know there are good and bad in every person and every country and don't feel the need to shout at people who feel differently today.

Well for those who accuses me of being obviously crazy that America is one of the most racist countries in the world I say this for those who never seen my passport WHATEVER! I have travelled abroad and I am not concerned about other countries because when I go somewhere I respect their culture and beliefs regardless of my opinion. But I do live here in America and trust me for the sphincter muscle who told me love it or leave it I don't have to go anywhere I chose not to. I can say whatever I feel. On the flip side America does offer opportunity never said that AmericaI never said this country was the worse place to live in. I resent people here telling me I am ignorant it is not my fault America has an ugly past. Don't make me go there!!!!!!!!!!

Now being the husband of this person let me say this I was a professional basketball player, travel ever where to ever country you can named. I have never seen the racism we have here in our own country. Racism, what is it prejudice?ask yourself what is it. There is more prejudice among same race than there are other races. So check yourself! I rather know who don't like me than those of you who pretend to.

Well, I know others don't care but this will be the last time I comment on this bias azz site I notice when it comes to certain issues you can't say nothing about what is really going on. As I see it, it is plainly clear what I am dealing with here. Close a blind eye to reality!!!! Peace out! no mas au revoir auf wiedersehen! Good riddance!!!!!!!!!

i noticed that you made several posts and although there was disagreement I never saw anyone post that you were not entitiled to your own opinion. This is the type of issue that really fires people up and some people just won't let go of. In America everyone is entitled to their own opinion this includes you and those you argued with. Sometimes as I believe someone earlier replied the most you can do is agree to disagree. becoming more and more agitated only makes you seem less rational about your views. Racism is horrible and it will not end today or even tomorrow but if we are all aware and do our part to be fair with everyone and take each person as a singular entity and each withit's own merit.

To me that means that there are 33,961 individuals who are members here, and every single one of them have their own distinct personality - their own distinct faults, their own distinct qualities

Every single person in this world is an individual and it would be great if each of us could be judged and could judge others just by who we truly are, not by our race or our looks or our title or our manner of dress

Those who get to know me hopefully see me as more than just an old fat bald-headed white guy (I hope anyway :D )

Those who do not bother to get to know me, well - Tis their loss

I just love people who want to live in Americans, but obviously hate Americans. They be pot calling kettle...

I'm puzzled. Did someone say she said that?

No , no one ever said she said that BUT it was heavily implied that her comments meant she HATED America as evidenced in many prior posts. I have been a part of MANY of these debates and discussions some face to face and I know and recognize when someone is being insulting. No one should ever openly invite another American to leave the country because they are displeased with SOME issues. What should have been encouraged or suggested is that she visit other countries or travel abraod. But as she later stated she has done ALL of that and still feels the way she does.

I know. I can think of 10 countries offhand where the racism is worse and people are getting OUT and coming HERE to get away from it.
