Racial discrimination in Nursing....

Published

Hi everyone..I just wish to know if there is some truth to this..well, some of my friends who are now in U.S.A. have talked to us here in the Philippines about some racial problems. When she arrived at Manhattan, she was given a lot of assignments in her area..which she did not mind at all at first. But, there came a time..that she wanted to question herself on why other american nurses are'nt as busy as her..or she has to forego lunch and dinner just to see to it that she has done her duty well...compared to others..who can really smile around and rub elbows with other nurses. She is one of the best nurses we have here..and she can speak the English language well.

She went to the point of really pouring out herself to a friend she had and was there really a great flood of tears.:scrying:

So..may I ask anyone? ..Who do you think really originated in this land of milk and honey? Aren't most of you now in the U.S. also were once from other nations too/? or maybe trace up your ancestors....I hope all nurses will protect nurses and love nurses..be they be black, white, red, yellow or brown. In this way, we stand up in our profession as One.

QED

QED, Eh? Obviously you fail to understand the point despite having it explained in various ways. Agreeing with one sentence out of the whole statement is still pulling quotes out of context. This does not validate your stance one iota. I refuse to roll over and play troll for you.

Your pitiful defense of your unwarranted attacks against me is wearisome. Stop modifying my statements to make your arguments. Don't tell people what you think I meant to say, I will do that for myself. Use your own words, your own statements, to make your arguments.

Listen Sekar-

I am sorry that you are so angered by my interpretation of your statement. I stand by my interpretation but I hate to see anyone so upset as you have become so I suggest a truce- let's just forget about the whole thing, OK? Life is too short to spend what free time we have arguing like this. I have been on this board for a couple of months now and got into some really nasty scuffles with some conservatives. The truth is we're never going to agree about certain contenscious issues so what exactly is the point of debating them ad nauseam. I wish they had a smiley with a peace sign (we sure need one of those) because I'd use it right now...

Hi!

It is not Phillipinos People from India Africa The West Indies Ireland White Black or Religion it is 2 things

1.When these problems occur there is no one on site to register your complaint with without causing problems for Yourself

2.Why are there sooooo many nurses from outside of the US that do not understand American customs social values and suffer in silence

All black women are not like female rapors We are more like Condelliza Rice and Oprah Winfrey, yet our great halls of education were closed and areas outside of the US were given accreditation to create Nurses

I speak only English when I am at work I have never done favors to get another person fired so that a friend or relative can work in their place.

Everyone who reads this needs to think about these issues because these are the issues that have always existed in Nursing and have given Nursing a bad name.

I never saw an answer to the question..."what is QED" anyway? I don't know either...what is it?

Hey guys, I just read the whole thread and whew!... I just want to say, America is not the most racist country. Stories of racism are just isolated cases. I love America!!!

As a Filipino, I feel the need to correct how most of you spell. It's Philippines not Phillipines, Filipinos not Philiphino. :kiss

Calling to all Filipina nurses abroad: Don't speak in Tagalog if other foreign nurses are around. It's rude. ;)

Let us love one another! No more war of words.

Thanks Sanchai - I have to keep correcting myself as I have a tendency to spell Philippines with two L's and one P - don't know why. I have to ask though, do you prefer Filipino or Philippino? We have a lot of your countrymen working here in Australia as well and I have to say they, as a group, are great nurses. :kiss

Hi gwenith!!!

I prefer Filipino. :) Philippino spells more like an Italian word like capuccino... hmmm. :D

Thanks for being so nice to us!!!!
