How do you accept money from someone?

I am in the same boat. Someone I work with is a nurse but no longer practices nursing. She has been my biggest supporter. She encouraged me to apply to school, made suggestions during the application process, etc. I have a 3.8 GPA but almost found myself not returning to school this summer because I couldn't afford it. While chating on day at work I was telling her about my situation and she immediately called my school and paid the bill in full. She strongly believes in my ability to succeed and doesn't want money to stand in my way. I just hugged her and thanked her as often as I could. I also strive to continue to do well because I could never let her down. She is an angel. Accept the money. Remain humble and DO YOUR VERY BEST!! Make her proud! :) :) :)

    Now i that i GOT letter!!I CAN"T GO!!! I am so upset:(

Relax. Pray and ask God to direct your path. Don't count yourself out just yet. God is always on time. What may seem like bad timing to you can be perfect in the eyes of God. You need to seek him in the midst of this and everything will come together. I personally know ALL about the daycare issue but trust him. He will make a way. GO to the school and calmly tell them about what you are feeling. Believe me your not the only one feeling this way. They may have some answers. Remember that God can make a way out of NO way. I am a witness to that. I've seen him do it again and again and again. Don't underestimate his POWER. Seek him first and everything else will be added unto you. Be blessed and walk in his power. :) :) :)

we've been having heated - but not yet angry - discussions

You summed it up very well. There is a bottom line here. Tha patient deserves care and should be treated with diginity and respect regardless of the jewlery, # of children, public assistance, etc. It is funny how so many nurses judge the patients and their circumstances and simultaneously defend themselves as a good provider of care. A "good nurse" deals with the patient as a whole being so how can these negative judgments not affect your quality ofcare?

I attend Villa Julie College in Baltimore, Maryland. I just completed my first sememster and the program lasts 2 years. My first Bachelor's degree was in Biology (1994). Question about accelerated RN-BSN programs

I went to the above link and clicked on my state: Maryland and there was only one school listed and there are several that offer the RN to BSN option. It may be a good place to start but also check your State Nursing Board.

How are you paying for school?

I live in Maryland. The accelerated program I attend meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and every other weekend. This program was designed for people with an existing Bachelor's degree. I am able to work fulltime; however, my employer is flexible if I need to leave early, etc. Although I haven't needed to leave early due to school primarily because I wanted to see my children before class.

How are you paying for school?

Please be aware of the fact that most scholarships have nothing at all to do with your income. HOwever some grants and other aid due depend on you income. I am married with 3 children. My husband and I both work full time. I attend an accelerated BSN program at a private college so it is expensive. I was recently selected to receive a scholarship from a local hospital that requires me to work there for two years upon graduation. So I have money to help pay school and a job after graduation. What more could I ask for?:) :) :)

2nd career students, tips with your personal letter for acceptance

I have a Bachelor's in BIology so I have worked primarily as a lab technician. I changed careers because now that I am married with three children I can afford to pursue a career that I will enjoy. Before I was a single parent and had to pay daycare along with all the other living expenses. Working fulltime and overtime wasn't a choice but wa s a MUST. Now that I have a supportive husband I can pursue nusing. I guess my cirmstances before didn't allow me to.

    Racial discrimination in Nursing....

No , no one ever said she said that BUT it was heavily implied that her comments meant she HATED America as evidenced in many prior posts. I have been a part of MANY of these debates and discussions some face to face and I know and recognize when someone is being insulting. No one should ever openly invite another American to leave the country because they are displeased with SOME issues. What should have been encouraged or suggested is that she visit other countries or travel abraod. But as she later stated she has done ALL of that and still feels the way she does.
