Alright, I don't do any of this for the Holiday gift. But I am perplexed, offended, hurt, and downright enraged at this crappy treatment. This isn't an argument against Physicians, or PA's etc. This is a basic question about "what did your hospital give you for the yearly Christmas/ whatever?"
I am sure that the Physicians received some sort of significant Holiday Bonus, and the PA's as well....then we get to the lowly RN's who are the backbone of the ER, who keep the physicians on task, who assess and reassess, who listen and treat accordingly...
In a nutshell, I/we got a windshield ice scraper...I AM LIVID!!! I would seriously rather receive NOTHING!! What a flipping joke!!!! This is disgusting!! Try giving the physicians an ice scraper, so that they can scrape their window in the "outdated Physicians Only" parking spaces.
Sorry, can't articulate as well as I'd like right now. Basically, WHAT DID YOUR FACILITY GIFT YOU (compared to the God complex physicians)?
I get to work 7pm-7am Christmas Eve and Christmas night. Not only will it be the first time my four kids don't have their mom with them when they wake up on Christmas morning, but I have to sleep so I can go back in for another shift that night. We also don't get any holiday pay, bonuses, or gifts. Though the situation makes me sad, I guess I'll just try to remember to be grateful I have a job.
Our surgeons and anesthesiologists rented a spot for a party and comped the first drink for everyone. The hospital gave us a $15 gift card to a local store.
Honestly, I can't see how anyone could be angry over not getting anything for Christmas from an employer. The only obligation they are expected to provide is compensation for hours worked. Anything else I would think of as a nice surprise. Not expecting anything and being pleasantly surprised beats getting all worked up.
I am not looking for my employer to gift me. I expect nothing and am never disappointed.
THIS is my mantra for life.
I only have expectations for myself.
With the check that I revive for my services rendered, I can get myself my own gift and pamper myself; I don't look to my employer to send me to Mexico, Hawaii, or anywhere else I want to go; I did that and will continue on my own for my services rendered.
I'm getting double-time for working Christmas Day.... I already bought myself a Sig Sauer P-238 with Rainbow Titanium slide for my Christmas present!

$100, a hoodie, and apparently a market raise in January. Beats the big fat nothing from last year! I worked for a major pharmacy for 8 years prior to being a nurse and they never gave us anything at the holidays. Anything my employer gives is a fun bonus and not expected.
