"Holiday/year end" gift

Published

Alright, I don't do any of this for the Holiday gift. But I am perplexed, offended, hurt, and downright enraged at this crappy treatment. This isn't an argument against Physicians, or PA's etc. This is a basic question about "what did your hospital give you for the yearly Christmas/ whatever?"

I am sure that the Physicians received some sort of significant Holiday Bonus, and the PA's as well....then we get to the lowly RN's who are the backbone of the ER, who keep the physicians on task, who assess and reassess, who listen and treat accordingly...

In a nutshell, I/we got a windshield ice scraper...I AM LIVID!!! I would seriously rather receive NOTHING!! What a flipping joke!!!! This is disgusting!! Try giving the physicians an ice scraper, so that they can scrape their window in the "outdated Physicians Only" parking spaces.

Sorry, can't articulate as well as I'd like right now. Basically, WHAT DID YOUR FACILITY GIFT YOU (compared to the God complex physicians)?

We got a letter and a staff dinner... that I was downstaffed the day of and didnt get to enjoy.

Nothing except the ability to remain gainfully employed.

Our providers group threw a party for all staff. I don't believe the hospital had anything to do with it.

Wow ...can't imagine being outraged over not receiving a gift from my employer (or from anyone else, for that matter). I expect them to pay me when I work, but that's about it. Mine does hand out $100 grocery gift certificates for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I usually give them away. Our doctors don't act like gods, either.

Ironically, I've been wanting one of those scraper things for cold misty days although it never snows here. It has to be a cute one, though! Right now, I'm using a sheet of paper folded into fours.

I'm not sure what the nurses at my hospital got, but I received $150 and a $1/hr raise as an aid! Pretty grateful for that. I think the nurses made out pretty well too, though I haven't asked.

Try using an old plastic card (e.g. credit card) instead if you're in a pinch... more effective scraping edge :).

Another hallway pt and a telepack without leads (for that pt).

Our patients are receiving a neck pillow and carrying tote. The staff, typically, get nothing. I guess our gift is not losing our jobs for the New Year!

I am not "livid" or" outraged". I guess I am not looking for my employer to gift me. I expect nothing and am never disappointed.

:sarcastic:

Oh well.

Try saving your outrage for more important issues and be grateful for what you have, which IS a job, a home and food in your belly. Many don't have that much.

The days of holiday gifts/bonuses are long gone I fear. Our management team was treated to an expensive dinner at a high end restaurant, the staff gets a big old nothing. I am resigned to this outrageous behavior, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I agree with your disgust. While I don't expect holiday gifts, I also don't think it is fair for some company employees to get bonuses and special treatment while most of us do not. We do all work for the same place after all.

We got a 2.3% pay cut. They no longer count Holiday eves as deserving Holiday-Time pay. Also no more week-end or shift differentials. The good news is I will be collecting Soc Sec in the next little bit (in a couple of months), so instead of sweating trying to get 40 hours, and picking up any shifts I get, I can work part-time and do not have to suffer through any more nightshifts. (it takes me 2 days to recuperate).

Same _****_, Different Day

That sounds like a pretty trivial event to provoke such heated emotions.

There's always time to go back to school and become a doc or PA so you don't get any more ice scrapers!
