  1. The concept is hilarious, but I would be so irritated if that dude sat down next to me. I think it makes for better sketch comedy than social experiment. But yeah, this thread reads like an awkward one-sided conversation. 😜
  2. I'd have gone to med school instead.
  3. Urban Dictionary: bear
  4. I'm still laughing at this a few minutes later... What a horrible name for a bread factory (store?)!
  5. 9/5 What I learned this week.....

Horrible facial flushing and the worst stomach pain I've ever had in my entire life - I have to lie down because I can't stand up. I feel like I'm dying! The higher the alcohol content, the worse the pain, and it lasts 45 minutes or so.
  6. 9/5 What I learned this week.....

I have an alcohol intolerance too. It was a fun discovery during my first year of college. 😓
  7. 8/22 What I learned this week....

Between that and the "side pocket," I need eye AND brain bleach!
  8. An Atheist Nurse in King James Hospital

I'm still chuckling about the patient believing that God is on board with the no-dilaudid plan. That approach is genius.
  9. Nurses with pedometers - How far do you walk?

According to my Fitbit, I usually average 5000 steps before midnight and 4-5000 after, so my average is 9-10,000 steps per 12 hour shift.
  10. 8/22 What I learned this week....

This week I learned that panic attacks and starting school are not a winning combination. Deep breaths...
  11. Our units acuity is at an all time high.

We've had the same problem over the last few months. High census, high acuity, low staff. It's been a rough summer.
  12. New FNP student at Walden University.

I don't attend Walden, but I second this recommendation. Looking for my first preceptor has been a stressful endeavor for me because I started about 3 months prior to needing the preceptor based on recommendations from other students in the area. M...
  13. Nurse Corps loan repayment 2015

Same thing happened to me last year, I'm at a facility with a score of 17 and a DTI >200%, but I was not selected. I did get a credit check, but was told last year that everyone who met basic requirements got one, which does not seem to be the ca...
  14. Pay in Springfield, MO

Pay is around $19/hr for new grads and I think both hospitals pay $1/hr differential for a BSN.
  15. So ready for a break from grad school

I'm feeling the same way. I'm about to start my first clinical rotation in about 6 weeks and I've had a couple of mini-breakdowns as well. Hopefully dropping down to part time at work will help alleviate some stress!
