I have this terrible habit which I can't quit. It's terrible but yet I waste time on it. I split my split ends. Help!!! What are your bad and yet so entertaining habits?

i can't think in a messy patient room -- but my house, on the other hand . . .

and i'm addicted to books. i read them, but i have to have at least a dozen on my bedside table and panic when i run short. my husband likes to remind me of the new year's day i went to barnes and noble to buy books because i only had three left and was afraid i'd run short during the holiday weekend.

Oh my! I am a picket just like RNperdiem!! I HATE this. I have picked since I can remember being little and my mom telling me to quit. I have scars and don't know how to stop!

I'm weird with my alarm clock. It has to be exactly four minutes ahead of my cellphone. Otherwise the world will fall apart.

i have books i'm in the middle of reading stashed all over the place: in my purse, in the car, by my recliner, on my nightstand, by each tub or john, in the kitchen under a pillow on the windowseat, in the

living room, outside by the hot tub, on the front porch ... i'm hopeless, i think.

we also have decks of cards, scrabble games, etc. in the kitchen windowseat, under the edge of our bed, in the car, on the porch,

in the living room by the fireplace, in addition to in the games cupboard. i carry a double deck of cards in my purse too.

my parents, who were game players too, each had ten silver "betting" dollars, that they made bets with each other with. now, my husband and i use them with equal passion and ferver. we're usually a fairly even match... but not always.

I'm a nail biter. It's gross. I don't bite them way down, but I know how gross it is esp. considering how many pathogens/body fluids are in the hospital. Hand washing is great, but it's still not 100% clean. I have been carrying around a small nail clipper in my pocket and anytime I feel the need to bite, I snip instead. Hopefully it works to kick the habit long term.

Acrylic nails cured me but of course I cant have those in nursing.

i leave stuff open. (only at home though) cupboards, dresser drawers. drives my boyfriend nuts.

I used to be a nail biter, for at least 20 years. One day I just quit, not exactly sure why, I just quit. Now I actual have to use the clippers to cut my nails because they get too long!

My bad habit is procrastination, I am terrible, it drives my husband nuts!

I don't dry myself off with a towel before I get out of the shower.

I just drip dry my way out of the bathroom, leaving small puddles.

Just don't look at my hands.....my nails are a mess, my cuticles are a mess. I pick at everything. I hear my Mother's voice in my head every time I do it...although her voice is starting to be replaced by my husbands because he gets on me just as bad about it.

I thought I was the only person in the world who split my split ends.

I'm weird with my alarm clock. It has to be exactly four minutes ahead of my cellphone. Otherwise the world will fall apart.
My cell phone is set to the correct time in my area, which is central standard time. However, the alarm clock in my bedroom is set approximately 23 minutes ahead of the correct time on the cell phone. I've been doing this for at least ten years.

Also, I must set my alarm for odd-numbered times. If I must awaken at 7am, I'll set the clock for either 6:59 or 7:01, but never exactly at 7am. If I set the alarm clock for an even-numbered time, I fear that I'll experience doom that day.

I know. I really do know that this is all weird. :uhoh3:

Okay, here's my super weird habit...or compulsion, I guess.

If I am, say, doing dishes, and I get an itch behind my right ear and scratch it, getting my skin wet behind the right ear, I then have to do the same on the other side behind my left ear.

I didn't really acknowledge this until I was driving with a friend and had the window cracked and a few raindrops landed on my left arm. I reached over with my right hand, got my hand wet, touched my left hand, and then touched the same spot on my right arm.

I also noticed this a few weeks ago when I stepped in a puddle in flip flops and got one foot wet. Had to go back for the other foot...
