Hello everyone. I'm 26 I have a 7yr old son, and a 7 yr old stepdaughter. I start nursing school Jan 4th, upcoming spring. My question is what are the pro's and con's of conceiving a child during nursing school. Our children are getting older, and we are not getting younger. Please give testimony, feedback and your best advice. I have been contemplating this for sometime, while pursuing other degree's before this one. Please help!
Baby #3 was a surprise (birth control and I didn't see eye-to-eye, that one was an IUD baby)....anyhow, I found out I was pregnant with her the same week I was accepted into my school's nursing program. I ran into pregnancy complications with her and when she was born she had a birth defect that took us a few weeks to diagnose. All of those issues messed up my schooling and I was forced by the nursing program to drop my clinical that semester. They held my spot, but the whole thing pushed me back a year. Plus, I have always been one of those very lucky people who doesn't have to spend a lot of time studying and I still had to work hard to get through the nursing program. Adding a baby to that was very difficult and not something I'd openly recommend to anyone.

I had my last child during nursing school, totally unplanned... as in a decade of not being able to conceive & then HELLO! I was lucky that all went smoothly. He was 3 months old when I graduated & I was 36.
I don't recommend it. You've got time.
