Hello everyone. I'm 26 I have a 7yr old son, and a 7 yr old stepdaughter. I start nursing school Jan 4th, upcoming spring. My question is what are the pro's and con's of conceiving a child during nursing school. Our children are getting older, and we are not getting younger. Please give testimony, feedback and your best advice. I have been contemplating this for sometime, while pursuing other degree's before this one. Please help!

Nursing school is not easy, although kids are awesome I personally would not add a baby to you "things to do list."
Most people wait until the second week of getting your first job to get pregnant.

You are my age but my son is 15 months. I would put off TTC during nursing school. What if you have complications during/after your pregnancy & get put on bed rest? What if there is a problem with your newborn? I know you & your kids aren't getting any younger but you also worked really hard to get into nursing school.
You aren't old either, you can wait the few years through nursing school. I would start trying to conceive after you have been at a full time job for a year so you qualify for maternity leave & FMLA.

26 is not old.
Pfft, once they trust you with a rental car the next step is your AARP card and discounts at Denny's.

I am an excellent student. Nursing school still took great effort.
If you conceive while you are a student, you will not be able to give your undivided attention to either one. Both deserve it.

I had my first and only child when I was 28... Now 33 and in my second semester of nursing school. There is a girl pregnant now in my class and due finals week... Nursing school is Not easy and I would HIGHLY recommend waiting until you graduate to TTC. You can never count on a perfect pregnancy, and having a newborn, two other children and the demand and great amount of time commitment nursing school requires id you, it would make it so much more difficult for you IMHO. Best of luck

Bang as much as you want while in nursing school but don't get pregnant.
If you go into labor mid-semester, you'll probably have to drop out. Not ideal.
Nursing school wasn't that hard but I think it would be with a baby.

Why add stress to an already stressful situation.

And the pro's are: **Drumroll**
You'll get constant attention and gushing from all your nursing school galpals ??????
You can totally throw another baby shower even though you have 2 other kids ????
You can be super bishy 24/7 and have something to blame it on (other than nursing school)???
Sorry that's all I got.

You are 26. By the time you finish your degree, you'll be maybe 30.
Newsflash I gave birth to my first child at the ripe old age of 31.

I think a baby deserves more than what would be left over after school, clinicals, & 2 older siblings. Oh I know people who have done it and survived but because they had to-do make a better life for their kids. If you don't have to, I wouldnt. You are plenty young enough to have another child later after having been in your first post grad job for a few years if you're really wanting
a third child. I had my last in my 30's as did many of my friends. I wish I'd had them all as a 30 something to be honest. Either that or have a baby now and hold off on nursing school for when they enter grade school.
