  1. I would recommend an ASN to BSN. I'm in Maine, and looked into the LPN program. The LPN program was 18 months and about $30,000. ( Only 1 private school offered it).I decided ( and currently 2nd semester) to enroll into the 2 year ASN at a community college for $6,000. I chose this because My ultimate goal is to become an RN, so for 6 more months, I will have my associates degree in nursing at a much lower cost! Many local colleges/universities will transfer my 2 year credits to the BSN. LPN's in Maine are pretty much limited to work in nursing homes and if you're lucky, a physicians office, but the LPN positions here are getting phased out. Best of luck!:)
  2. I had my first and only child when I was 28... Now 33 and in my second semester of nursing school. There is a girl pregnant now in my class and due finals week... Nursing school is Not easy and I would HIGHLY recommend waiting until you graduate to TTC. You can never count on a perfect pregnancy, and having a newborn, two other children and the demand and great amount of time commitment nursing school requires id you, it would make it so much more difficult for you IMHO. Best of luck
  3. I was in your shoes last Fall 2014, and just passed nursing first semester the second time. I too failed by a small margin...0.15%. What I found this semester, was that I was over studying last fall. The dept. chair gave me a study schedule, so I was doing something every night, but not everything every night lol. This helped a great deal! I also realized I didn't know the nursing process as well as I thought I did last semester. I got the Test Success book and practiced more questions since testing was my weak area. So practice questions and a study schedule is what I recommend!!! It was so hard at first repeating the semester, but I'm much more confident in my testing and understanding of the nursing process and concept maps, that I feel i will be successful and better prepared for the next 3 semesters of nursing school
  4. Thank you everyone for your feedback!!:):) April, Student Nurse
  5. Youtube is a great source if u are a visual learner! Helped a ton for me:) April, Student Nurse
  6. Thanks I will go get that book! Yes I meet with my instructors after every exam and it seems to be that I'm over thinking, especially when I get down to the last 2 questions. I have the Fundamentals of Success and have been using that as well April, Student Nurse
  7. Just practice practice practice!!!! I literally do hundred + leading up to my dosage exam! You got this!!!!:) April, Student Nurse
  8. Hi everyone! I'm a first semester nursing student. I'm doing great in SIM labs and clinicals. My program requires 76% exam average to move onto the next semester. I currently have a 75% with teo exams left in the semester! I'm honestly sooooo nervous. I've always been an A/B student prior to nursing school. I was a CNA before and feel comfortable with knowing the material. The exams are set up NCLEX style, which is new to me this semester. I get down to the final two answers and always end up picking the answer that's not the " best answer". Any positive words of encouragement and/or exam tips that you found helpful please share! Thanks!:):) April, Student Nurse
  9. Have you thought of going into an RN program? I know here in Maine, if you already have a Bachelors degree ( in any area), you can get into an accelerated RN program. At least then your hospital would cover more? Just a thought!:) April, Student Nurse
  10. Definitely fill out the Fafsa!:) You can get grants and/or loans. I'm in the RN program, got a scholarship, grants that covered my tuition, and took out loans to cover my bills while in school so I don't have to work as much. Don't worry, it will work out!:) April, Student Nurse
  11. Yes you can! I'm a first semester nursing student in a two year program. I have 6 years exp, and I have found it so helpful having the exp!!:) April, Student Nurse
  12. I took micro by itself, and worked 20 hrs a week and that class was enough by itself!:) April, Student Nurse
  13. Cna, the exp will help you a lot when u are a student nurse April, Student Nurse
  14. Fundamentals Success is great! Also practice your dosage calculations!:) April, Student Nurse
