I went through something similar, but I actually called and asked, then took a tour to get a feel of the campus and faculty (most schools have open houses), My school also receives federal aid so they get money from the government. I met class mates and even employees that were apart of the LGBTQ Community... I think you have to bite the bullet and ask them flat out. The only rules pertaining to sex were under the student housing rules and that does not pertain to me as I will not be living on campus. The attitude with some schools are changing, especially with them being more expensive and students not wanting to incur a ton of costs for their degree. No one has ever asked me personal questions about my sexuality... I also have not signed any contracts of any kind. You're going to have to research and simply ask. Don't waste your time worrying, just investigate and make the best decision for you.

The further you go in pursuit of nursing, the more likely you are to encounter this at least a couple of times. I remember getting an 88.16 in Pharm and I was so upset! My friends and family could not make sense of me being upset over a high B, but I was... And it made me a better student overall...It made me try harder, take advantage of any opportunity to improve my grades, and study as much as possible to avoid that feeling of getting close but not getting the grade I wanted.

I was in the same boat last year and I let the excitement of being back in school and wanting to be a nurse push me into a heavy load of classes in my first semester back! Not smart! It was a rude awakening. I was not anticipating the amount of material work required, but I was also working full time, so if you're not going to be working, you should be fine.

Yeah, I don't think this is a question that someone can give you an absolute answer to. I went to my counselor and asked her the same question. She advised me to seek out a BSN or at the very least, complete all of my core coursework towards a bachelors degree first, because of the current trends in the job market in Houston for nurses. Most of the ADN's that I know out of about 5, only one works in a hospital setting and its in a rural area where our school is. All of the others that live in closer proximity to the city work in nursing homes, public health clinics, and the county hospital, but with the whole healthcare reform thing, they're hearing rumblings about them getting their BSN's as well so that their employers can remain competitive with other healthcare systems.

Same boat!! Im working to get them all out of the way prior to beginning a program!

Thanks everyone!! I feel positive about them. I've checked out the professors for both and they have good reputations among my classmates. What I've noticed is that taking certain sciences together can be complimentary, taking nutrition and AP II together I think had given me a better understanding for both if that makes sense...

This is my first time posting... But I've gotten to the point where none of my friends and family can help with this question... Do you guys think its wise to take micro and chem in the same semester? I'll be taking an American Studies class as well, but I wont be working so Im thinking it won't be as difficult trying balance them. I'm taking a full load with nutrition and APII this semester, are chem and micro significantly harder? Am I delusional?

I've applied for and have an interview this week to volunteer at Memorial Hermann TMC, I'm close to the SW side of town too, but given the amount of opportunity to volunteer in various areas, I decided to go with TMC. I think that the medical center will offer an abundance of personnel and opportunities for networking...

Im planning on applying spring 2016, I've called and spoken with an advisor and she stated they didn't require the hesi or teas but entry into the university doesnt guarantee acceptance into the program... I'm still completing prereq's but hope to attend st thomas as well...
