Props to Esme12

I don't post often compared to some but I do read AN extensively. I stay out of the flame wars but it gets really old seeing the same garbage over and over again, from both old and new nurses. With all the various threads flying about right now I would like to stop and acknowledge a true nursing professional.

Esme12, your posts are always insightful, kind and truthful. Your words of wisdom are delivered with class and grace without glossing over the hard facts of nursing. You epitomize the ideal of the professional registered nurse.

I wish I worked with you........but on second thought, I do. I work with nurses who have decades of experience and yet are not bitter or intolerant of others. It took me a few tries to find my niche (psychiatric nursing) but now I can look forward to every day working with the "esme12's" of my unit. Thanks.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Esme's posts, advice, humor, and so much more. What a great contribution to AN! She always catches me if I use a swear word, but I still love her! Haha

Esme is my phantom mentor... hehe

I would love to be under Esme's wing on the floor as a new grad. Thankfully, I know that I can bring Esme's kindness and willingness to share knowledge to my own practice.

Esme12's posts have been extremely helpful, and she really gets you critically thinking about a situation. I really wish I had known about AN during school. I love how Esme12 and Grn Tea help students with care plans.

My my goal after getting some years of experience, is to be a nurse educator. I hope I can be as knowledgable and helpful as Esme12 and the other helpful administrators on AN!

Is there somewhere we could request to start a yearly daytonite award? I think this would be awesome

What strikes me about Esme is her thoughtfulness and humility, not to mention her knowledge. I have a picture of her in my head: a kind face with a warm, sincere smile. The type of face you would want to see as a patient. One that gives you confidence that you are in good hands. I don't want to be her co-worker; I want to be her patient!

Definitely the face you want smiling down at you when you are the patient in bed, scared and in pain.

Amen. I adore you, Esme.... A true gem. I also agree that it would be awesome to meet her in person over coffee or spirits, and I also agree that she deserves accolades here. I imagine her looking like the Good Witch... Haha - waving her magic wand over poor souls like myself and making everything better with a wink, a smile, and gentle, sound advice. Thanks, OP, for reminding us...

I hope Esme is ok. I miss her posts.

I feel very fortunate to have Esme in my life, as a friend both here and on Facebook. She is indeed a wise and compassionate woman.....what you see here in her posts is the real deal. I want to be her when I grow up. :)

Where has GRNTEA been lately? I feel lost without GRNTEA and Esme!
