Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.
Pardon the source.
"The Biden administration acknowledges that determining the origin of the covid-19 outbreak that has killed almost 600,000 Americans is important — yet so far it has done little to actively advance such an investigation. In fact, the U.S. government is thwarting congressional inquiries while passing the buck to the World Health Organization, which is a recipe for delay and probable failure. This neglect further endangers our national security and public health."

Interesting opinion from a source requiring no apology. Does that mean that you prefer Ben Shapiro's brand of journalism?
Anyway, it's still a thing to desire to discover the origins of this virus. I think that Psaki handles the briefings well and her responses are thoughtful. This government prefers a strong diplomatic approach to issues and it would seem that covid is no different.
QuoteIn his statement, Biden said a report he received last month said the intelligence community has “coalesced around two likely scenarios” but has not reached a definitive conclusion about whether the virus emerged from human contact with an animal or from a lab accident.
Biden quoted from the report: “While two elements in the [intelligence community] leans toward the former scenario and one leans more toward the latter — each with low or moderate confidence — the majority of elements do not believe there is sufficient information to assess one to be more likely than the other.”
In his statement, Biden also pressed China to cooperate amid questions of whether the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan.
Increased presence of the US in the WHO and the American lead in building international pressure to find the facts deserve a chance.

It's an opinion piece. Just an opinion piece.

Why would you feel you have to pardon WAPO: Here they are demonizing your Anti-Christ. This is an OPINION piece...just one person's opinion. Since you posted this, ha-ha, you will have to read my opinion. IMHO, there are several reasons why we shouldn't lurch into another knee-jerk congressional hearing. 1. Almost half of Congress is intellectually and morally incompetent to do so; 2. Does Covid 19 virus even resemble the Sars-2 virus being studied in Wuhan enough to believe that Covid virus could have evolved from the one in China. At least 1 virologist has commented on these differences and how these viruses are too far different from each other to infer one came from the other. 3. Covid - 19 wasn't an American pandemic; it was worldwide. With that in mind, why should we conduct and pay for, all alone, a scientific inquiry done by Americans only? The solution (vaccine) was developed only because so many scientists across the world were focused on one problem. Now, if a privately funded group wishes to sponsor such a MAGA-style study - let them do it. Don't waste my money, please. This sounds about as successful an argument as the guys still trying to prove that Dominion voting machines threw the election because they were connected to the internet which is quite a feat since they don't have modems. Do I want that anyone who believes that forest fires in California were started by Jewish space lasers should have ANYTHING to say about the source of the virus? Next thing you know, she will be blaming the Jews again. Not on my dime.
Biden asks US intel officials to investigate COVID-19 origin
QuotePresident Joe Biden on Wednesday asked U.S. intelligence officials to “redouble” their efforts to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, including any possibility the trail might lead to a Chinese lab.
After months of minimizing that possibility as a fringe theory, the Biden administration is responding to both U.S. and world pressure for China to be more open about the outbreak.
Biden asked U.S. intelligence agencies to report back on their findings within 90 days. He directed U.S. national laboratories to assist with the investigation and called on China to cooperate with international probes into the origins of the pandemic.
Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, have promoted the theory that the virus emerged from a laboratory accident rather than naturally through human contact with an infected animal.

As is other opinions I post, but you often focus on the source rather then what you agree or disagree with.

I find that to be a disingenuous claim. Yes, sources with factually challenged foundations are identified as such, but the content and crazy thinking is also widely discussed in these threads.
Why not make a compelling case for your alarm at how Biden is handling the pandemic? I mean, that is the topic you introduced, right...the opinion that Biden is mishandling this critical issue? Why not make that your focus rather than mocking your own source and then those who respond?
I can't access the article but Biden has been making moves to investigate covid. Oh wait Char posted that already.
There is this

How should standard of living for earthlings in the 21st century be measured?
Everyone has their own definition I suppose.
Personally I would give up some "freedom" for clean air, for less death and destruction from guns, and for health care and a safety net. All the countries on this list have those. https://www.currenciesdirect.com/en/news/currency-news/countries-with-the-best-quality-of-life-in-2021
I love America and wouldn't live anywhere else but I wouldn't say we have a good standard of living compared to many countries. Our gun violence alone I think destroys that idea.
I don't like the conservatives idea of freedom either. It means the freedom to pollute, the freedom of "self defense", the freedom to discriminate against LBGT persons, the freedom to make voting difficult, on and on.
