Wow. No one has started such a thread yet?
After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days, apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.
Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week, by the end of April.

So what is your criteria for someone who support Trump but isn't a "cult victim"? What's the difference?
It's obvious you have hostility for anyone to dare support Trump and your words imply you think all of us are in a "cult".

The difference is evidence of cult behavior. Not all people who currently favor Trump will repeat his lies and defend the indefensible. I suspect that as time goes on, more of the people who aren't in the cult may decide to not vote at all rather than vote for Biden but they'll have moral or ethical or patriotic objections to voting for the guy who needs to get elected to stay out of prison.
I definitely have hostility for the guy who lied about and mismanaged a pandemic before he lied about an election and tried to overturn the vote results to retain lost power. I have sympathy for the people who have been indoctrinated to accept Trump as normal. Nothing about him should be normalized.

So people can support Trump and vote for him but that doesn't mean these people are in "cult"?
Oh and I have never repeated any of his "lies" nor did I make excuses. I've pretty much have said all along, Even if Trump is all these terrible things, he is still better than Biden.
Beerman said:A lot of deflection on that post.
Yes, we've seen the past 3 1/2 years how bad policies lead to a increase.
What about the our immigration laws needs revising that would fix our illegal immigration problem?
With one person implying that we should decriminalize illegal immigration, no one else has been able to articulate that?
But, OTO, the other party isn't doing anything either.

Correct, not all people who will vote for Trump are in a cult. Some of them are pretty significantly misled and some are just not really paying any attention but are influenced by their social group. Some have just always voted republican. There are definitely millions of people who have been indoctrinated into thinking untrue things about our elections, about the events of January 6th, and about the covid pandemic.
Yes, you have repeated Trump lies. Yes, you have excused behavior or language.
Yes, Trump's terrible behavior is acceptable to you.

No I have not. Prove it.

House Republicans passed a bill on border security. The current administration's policies are soft on those entering illegally. A Republican president would fix that. So, if you want Republicans to do something, vote Republican.
So again, what exactly about our immigration laws needs fixing?

We need to allow more seasonal workers to come in, and return at season's end. Many agricultural workers do not wish to stay permanently, but don't want to risk multiple border crossings. We need to allow more people to immigrate, especially spouses and children. We need to finally fix DACA and grant citizenship to people brought to the US as children and are now adults and productive members of society. We need more judges to handle asylum cases. And we need more enforcement personnel at the border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
CBP Releases May 2024 Monthly Update
QuoteIn close coordination with U.S. and foreign partners, CBP continues to take strong enforcement efforts against transnational criminal organizations at our borders and beyond, "said Troy A. Miller, Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner. "Our enforcement efforts are continuing to reduce southwest border encounters. But the fact remains that our immigration system is not resourced for what we are seeing. The dedicated men and women of CBP will continue to prioritize national security and disrupt criminal networks, while maximizing consequences for unlawful entry, including detention, prosecution, and removal under recently announced executive actions to further secure the border.”
Since the expiration of the CDC's Title 42 public health Order on May 12, 2023, to May 31, 2024, DHS has removed or returned over 775,000 individuals, the vast majority of whom crossed the southwest border, including more than 115,000 individual family members. Total removals and returns over the past year exceed removals and returns in any fiscal year since 2010....
In May, CBP processed over 44,500 individuals through appointments at ports of entry utilizing advanced information submitted through CBP One™. Since the appointment scheduling function in CBP One™ was introduced in January 2023 through the end of May 2024, more than 636,600 individuals have successfully scheduled appointments to present at ports of entry instead of risking their lives in the hands of smugglers. The top nationalities processed subsequent to arrival for their appointment are Venezuelan, Cuban, Haitian, Mexican, and Honduran.
A percentage of daily available appointments are allocated to the earliest registered CBP One™ profiles, so noncitizens who have been trying to obtain appointments for the longest time are prioritized....
Rethinking U.S. Immigration Policy: New Realities Call for New Answers
QuoteA New Way Forward for Employment-Based Immigration: The Bridge Visa
U.S. employment-based visa policies, last updated in 1990, are not aligned with the country's current and future labor market needs. This policy brief outlines MPI's proposal for a new visa pathway that could help the United States better leverage immigration to meet its labor market needs, boost protections for both U.S.- and foreign-born workers, and flexibly adapt to future economic and demographic changes.
Meaningful and responsible reform of the U.S. immigration system that begins with addressing the challenge of the country's unauthorized immigrant population, 60 percent of which has been in the United States a decade or more.
- Restructuring the employment-based system to better reflect economic and demographic realities and the behavior of employers and workers with three streams: 1) seasonal/short-term workers; 2) direct admission of immigrant workers recognized as the best and brightest in their fields as permanent residents; and 3) a new "bridge" visa as the main route for admission for most foreign workers arriving on employment visas.
- Retaining family-sponsored immigration as a major priority of the U.S. immigrant selection system, but with changes to some backlogged categories.
- Reforming the humanitarian protection system, including U.S. asylum system reform to improve efficient and fair adjudication.
- Injecting much-needed flexibility into immigration levels, with the creation of an independent expert body within government that makes recommendations on annual admissions based on careful, nonpartisan review of labor market, economic, demographic, and immigration trends.
At the Breaking Point: Rethinking the U.S. Immigration Court System

This report examines the factors that have driven the courts to crisis. It then outlines recommendations that promise to advance the goal of delivering timely and fair decisions, and to support the health of the U.S. immigration system more broadly.
Toward a Better Immigration System: Fixing Immigration Governance at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Nearly two decades since the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was founded in 2003, U.S. immigration governance is buckling from breakdowns in performance across key immigration components and partner agencies. This report advances ideas for DHS to fix its governance to manage immigration as a system, focusing on challenges in mission and structure, intra-DHS and interdepartmental collaboration, funding, and institutional culture.Building a New Regional Migration System: Redefining U.S. Cooperation with Mexico and Central America
Addressing regional cooperation around migration will be among the immigration challenges and opportunities facing the incoming Biden administration. This report examines how movement between the United States, Mexico, and Central America has evolved in recent decades, and lays out a four-part strategy to expand opportunities for legal migration, address humanitarian protection needs, improve enforcement, and mitigate some of the forces driving people to emigrate.

2021 White House: Biden Sends Immigration Bill to Congress
QuoteSupplement existing border resources with technology and infrastructure. The legislation builds on record budget allocations for immigration enforcement by authorizing additional funding for the Secretary of DHS to develop and implement a plan to deploy technology to expedite screening and enhance the ability to identify narcotics and other contraband at every land, air, and sea port of entry. This includes high-throughput scanning technologies to ensure that all commercial and passenger vehicles and freight rail traffic entering the United States at land ports of entry and rail-border crossings along the border undergo pre-primary scanning. It also authorizes and provides funding for plans to improve infrastructure at ports of entry to enhance the ability to process asylum seekers and detect, interdict, disrupt and prevent narcotics from entering the United States....

President Biden Announces New Actions to Keep Families Together
Quote
- Implementing executive actions to bar migrants who cross our Southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum when encounters are high;
- Deploying record numbers of law enforcement personnel, infrastructure, and technology to the Southern border;
- Seizing record amounts of fentanyl at our ports of entry;
- Revoking the visas of CEOs and government officials outside the U.S. who profit from migrants coming to the U.S. unlawfully; and
- Expanding efforts to dismantle human smuggling networks and prosecuting individuals who violate immigration laws.
President Biden is announcing that the Department of Homeland Security will take action to ensure that U.S. citizens with noncitizen spouses and children can keep their families together.

Easing the Visa Process for U.S. College Graduates, Including Dreamers
Today's announcement will allow individuals, including DACA recipients and other Dreamers, who have earned a degree at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in the United States, and who have received an offer of employment from a U.S. employer in a field related to their degree, to more quickly receive work visas.
