President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

Yep, that's going to be the Democrat and media narrative.  It's all about revenge.  You'll probably others parroting this all this week.

Definitely going to be talking about Trump's impeachment in comparison to this one.  While I think they should focus on this one it's inevitable because even when Trump was being impeached we heard about Bill Clinton's.

About the revenge narrative, can you blame then when McCarthy backed an impeachment despite no evidence of Biden wrongdoing.  They have been desperately, and I mean desperately, trying to find wrong doing for a long time and haven't uncovered anything yet.

We also had to and still have to endure Trump deflecting to crooked Hillary and her crimes and have to endure "lock her up" for a long while into his Presidency.

People can't help it.

That said, if the impeachment can uncover wrong doing that they haven't yet uncovered, or they have been saving for the impeachment trial, then go for it.  I'd rather the truth be told.

The good news is that MTG is now going to vote to raise the debt ceiling.

They could call it a witch hunt, that's familiar and comfortable language for Trump voters to hear parroted. Would that help?

They're going to release the kraken right?

It's almost like Russia and the Saudis would love to have a crazy right winger in the presidency again.

Last week, Brent crude topped $90 per barrel for the first time since last November, and WTI climbed to an 11-month high, too. The reason: Saudi Arabia and Russia said they would extend their oil supply cuts until the end of the year.

The decision was hardly unexpected. What was unexpected was the length of the extension. It suggested that the biggest oil producers in OPEC+ were done playing around. They wanted higher prices, and they were going to get it. With that move, the thread on which U.S.-Saudi relations hang got thinner and frayed.

The USA couldn't reduce its addiction to fossil fuels too quickly when considering this type of toxic behavior.

There are no witnesses to back up any of the alternative facts that the Republicans are holding out.  And there's no other evidence either.  Hasn't Hunter been investigated as nauseum?  What is it that Heron says:  Look the other way?

Heron says "don't look over there", as in pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I think they are remembering 2019 when oil prices went down as demand dropped and there was too much production.  Of course they aren't thinking that because of high prices demand might fall.  US oil companies are no better.  They decline to drill all available leases to keep prices high.

OPEC is fueling American right wing rhetoric about Biden and the economy as they are interested in having another right wing American president.

After a long career in the Senate and as vice president, Mr. Biden enjoys a strong reputation among his peers and is seen as a committed internationalist fighting the tide of isolationism. While the chaotic withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan left sour feelings among many traditional American allies, Mr. Biden has restored some of his global reputation by rallying the West and other allies against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the seminal foreign policy crisis of his presidency so far.

He has also managed to stitch together a series of partnerships in the Indo-Pacific in the face of aggressive moves by China. He has bolstered relations with Australia, India, the Philippines and other nations in the region; elevated the standing of a bloc called the Quad, consisting of the United States, India, Japan and Australia; brought together the leaders of Japan and South Korea at Camp David for a three-way alliance that had long eluded Washington; and just last week cemented a strategic relationship with Vietnam during his first visit to Hanoi.

At the same time, America's two major rivals appear weakened. President Xi Jinping of China looks less potent internationally as his country's four-decade streak of economic growth flattens while President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia cannot even travel to the United Nations meeting or other major international gatherings because of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes in Ukraine.

It seems that Biden has some work to finish.

I think he gave a good speech and Fox News even didn't criticize it but summarized it.

These are times when the world really is in need of strong United States leadership as the lone superpower and world leader that we've positioned ourselves to be.  I think as with other countries like Poland and Germany as leaders in Europe us being divided and having extremism on the right and left not coming to agreement will stifle us as leaders on the world stage.

The late-Summer surge in gasoline prices is heightening the risks that inflation poses for President Joe Biden, and offering Republicans a new chance to pin the blame on his green agenda.

The GOP narrative has a major hole: U.S. oil production — already the highest in the world — is on track to set a new record this year, and will probably rise even more in 2024. But the ever-increasing flow of U.S. crude has failed to keep a lid on gasoline prices, showing once again that a global market drives the fuel prices that shape presidents' political futures.

I can tell that oil is being produced in the US because I see long oil trains roll through my town at least weekly to be processed at the 2 local refineries. High oil prices have more to do with OPEC and the Ukraine war than domestic production.
