Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

I'm just wondering if I am missing something here?

Biden has just sent a bunch of industrial generators to Texas and a lot of diesel fuel for them, which to me is like sending ice to Eskimos. After all the refineries are in Texas and Louisiana. 

Anyway, here's my confusion. Aren't both Texas and Louisiana incredibly prone to hurricanes etc. Shouldn't they actually of all people, be prepared for disasters!

Water damage is considerably worse than snow and cold. You can bundle up for cold, but there's no relief from hurricanes, but to flee. 

Where are the great Texas republicans spirit of doing for themselves and not wanting any handouts? Abbott should be castigated for his unpreparedness!

Republicans can not govern because they do not believe in our US government!  Under Trump they are, given he is still in control of them, worse!  Abbott, Cruz, and the rest show time and time again what damage incompetent idiots in our government can cause... They get a paycheck, make policies that screw over the middle and working class citizens by supporting their rich friends, but they do not work on anything else.  However, they have the audacity to point fingers at others whom they have perceived grievances as being lazy or dangerous!  Lazy and dangerous is defined as Trumpist Republican politicians in elected office (see Texas as a prime example)!

Texas  prizes INDEPENDENCE from the federal government--that's why not part of national  power grid.  But they sure are accepting FEMA assistance   (generators, water and blankets) this week --- ya know that's part of the Federal government....

Frankly, after so many horrific things republicans have done I don't think their supporters care about anything, not even themselves. They appear to vote emotionally instead of objectively.

Look at the emotional messaging of the "conservative" media options...fear mongering, hate baiting and inflammatory rhetoric are a staple diet.  The propaganda is effectively and consistently emotional rather than factual.

Yeah, Texas.  Where's your "freedom" now?  And to the OP of this thread: our schools opened and shut down several times because the support staff was catching Covid.  It might shock you to know that it's damn hard to open a school without teachers, busdrivers, cafeteria workers, maintainence people.

Now we will open again but this time it will be successful because school employees are vaccinated.

One shouldn't belittle the fact that the American spirit is alive and well in Texas and Texans are helping Texans.   They are no different than any other state in dealing with a crisis.

Texas is not even in the Top 25 states that receive more in Federal Funds that it pays in.  But yes, they are receiving disaster aid as they are tax payers.  No need to mock them since they are generally a conservative state.

Ted Cruz on the other hand deserves all that's thrown his way.  But if it upsets liberals then Texans are likely to continue to support him.

Power was restored rather quickly.  I live in Florida and a mild hurricane (Irma) came through and knocked out power for millions and I was without power for five days.  Wonder how in a hurricane prone state such a mild hurricane could do so much damage?

Not the best decision made by him.  But realistically, what did it matter?  Is he now out in the field, repairing power lines?

What's your take on Cuomo in NY, and his bad decision and cover up on the nursing home covid issues?
