President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

It's not really surprising that boos morphed into FU. It seems like a predictable progression from "F your feelings" merchandising and messaging to something more interactive.  IMHO

F-Biden merchandise like bumper stickers, t-shirts  and flags have long been out.    Considering people made a statue of a fat small membered Trump, effigies of Obama being hanged, President Bush made into a monkey.....on and on.  It's no surprise we've digressed this far.

It's a democracy at the end of the day!

Free speech and all that!

It's also healthy to not be repressed except in America unlike almost every other industrialized country, we have guns! And ignorant madmen!

This while she was interviewing Jeanine Pirro who charged the taxpayers of Westchester County a million dollars to have her office encased in mahogany, a private kitchen and a palatial bathroom installed in her office while she was the D.A. for Westchester County.  She is a shrewd shrew and just shows the kind of person Gabbard really is.  She was a very female friendly DA but only took cases that put her in the public eye.  At least she had the decency to leave her husband when he went to prison: another hood pardoned by Trump.

She wants to be President.  Its called jockeying for position in the primaries.  Just a feeling I have.

But more generally, there are big bucks to be made as a nominal member of the opposition willing to trash their own team on the opposition's home turf.  She's not the first to go that route.

and she's a minority and not a Christian, so being a Democrat is a must for her.

Any of you folks above have anything to say about what she actually had to say?

It's her opinion and it's not even a terribly surprising opinion...it's not like there's some new detail or nuance or fact offered up in her words. Her opinion is pretty consistent with the opinion of the Fox audience she was courting. What else is there to say?

She didn't really say anything disagreeable, did she?

To me she engages in what sounds like a lot of right wing rhetoric.  What she said about the leaders in America not trusting the people and what we need is leaders that trust the American people sounds like a campaign and all she needed to add was "and you can you trust me, vote for me".

She's also gone on Fox News talking about the "open door policy".  She criticized ABC news for using the word "pregnant people" tweeting "Pregnant PEOPLE? Read that headline again. Some hate women so much that they literally want to erase even the word "woman" from our vocabulary.", she's tweeted support for the parents protesting the school boards, she's ripped into Kamala Harris, on and on her opinions and stances are finding a platform on Fox News and she's sounding more like right wing rhetoric than Democrat to me.  I wonder if she's on the verge of changing parties.  All this is within her rights and freedom of speech.

I will say when she was campaigning for President I did like her stance against fossil fuels, guns, immigration and other stances.  How she's become the darling of Fox News is interesting.

But no, I don't have much to say about what she has to say.

I believe in equal treatment and rights for all. When I hear words like "pregnant people" it does offend me to a point. Us and Canada is a free country and if someone feels they are other than what biology use to indicate, then do your thing and live whatever way makes you happy. Nobody should discriminate against you for your choices.

What I think is happening is the smaller irrational group are louder than the rest. Please do not demand people/women to recognize your "gender" while at the same time tell women that their gender does not exist. Or call someone a bigot because they use the word breastfeeding feeding. I'm not saying that what you do tweety but I think it might be what Ms T might be referring to. "Hating women" is a little exaggerated I think.

The issue with the parents I have to agree with to a point. This does not include anyone who is threatening or verbally abusing anyone. People who behave like that should be dealt with by local police. However some parents are worried about some issues. I am for my children. It use to be that we could all share our opinions and come to a agreement in the middle. I do not think anyone can say that these right side parents or anyone really are being listen to. They are shut down call homophobic, transphobic, white supremacists for stating their concerns. Then there is this FBI thing and domestic terrorist.  There is a reason we have girl/boy bathrooms. I think a gender neutral one might be best but apparently that's discrimination too. Neither side is being rational.

Would it not be more effective to listen and provide info so that both sides can come to an understanding? We evolve as a species and need to work with newer issues like trans etc. We need to do this by listening to each other. Not call each other perverts and terrorist.
