Professors who grade based on 'looks'

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I know a few students have claimed that they had professors who graded students based on looks--meaning if you're a young pretty girl than you get an "A" with very little effort. Have you ever witnessed anything like this? If so, do you report the Professor to the dean?

How would one go about proving something like this? Whose opinion is considered to be the standard setter? Your friends are letting their imaginations run away from them.

I have never seen anything like this or heard of it.

I recall while in high shool, my French teacher told me that there were these girls in one of her classes in college who did nothing except have an unethical relationship with the teacher--and bragged about it. Needless to say she earned her C, and they acquired an A. I don't know the veracity of that story, but I suppose it happens. I've never encountered it myself though. I'm one of those young, pretty, girls who get As, but I earn it.

At my community college, it was all too common to hear younger girls talking about how hot the teacher was and how they planned on using their looks to get their grades. My particular favorite was my second semester there, and these girls were talking about the professor and who looked cuter... and this woman walks in. They had switched her first and last name and thought that she would be a man. LOL

There were, of course, rumors about how one of the professors had an affair with one of the students and gave her an A in the class. I had this professor myself and considered him one of the most professional people on campus.

It's hilarious to be there on the first day to see who is wearing what. You'll see girls dressed up in mini-skirts and high heels the first week, and they'll be in pajamas by the end of the semester. (Not to knock anyone who likes to dress in heels and skirts.)

I've encountered favoritism in high school and in college and also knew of people who had inappropriate relationships with instructors. Don't think any of that bothered me too much. I knew I couldn't do anything about it and just did the best I could on my own.

Yea I was shocked on first day to see a girl wearing a Tube Top, I dunno why but I was like WOW, she wears a lot of revealing things, most our instructors are females so I don't think it's to turn the men on.

All professions have inappropriate relationships but I don't think people get grades for simply being pretty. Shoot I would be a straight A student then HAHA. I suppose it could happen but I think if it does it's very rare.

Considering our instructors have to turn in a spread sheet along with their grades showing what each student made on each assignment, I would think that giving out As without earning them would be a lot of work for the instructor.

If they do, well, it will all come back eventually. The pretty girl making As she didn't earn in the pre-req's will be absolutely lost in nursing school. It seems at this time most nursing instructors are women.

I'm sure it happens but Lord I hope not in any of my classes, or else I'm in big trouble! Not that I'm a slob or anything, but I've got two school age kids and now am attempting school full time, I haven't had time for primping and makeup for years now. Lol***

I'm at a community college and I've heard of this occuring a lot. I'm not sure how true it is but one girl claimed she got a good grade because the professor found her very attractive.

Blah! I'm sure those girls are the ones that are completely full of themselves.

Like another poster said, wait until they enter nursing school. Those high heels and tube tops won't get them very far at all.
