Microbiology Spring 2007

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

:welcome: Gonna try to stick this one!!! Heres to a wonderful semester for all us MBers :):welcome:

Sometimes that happens. You have a good feeling, and it turns out differently. I had a bad feeling on my first Micro exam, and it turned out better than I thought. Micro is a very difficult class.

I had always heard it was, and everyone is right. It is such different terminology, and my Medical Terminology material doesnt even help.

Hang in there. Just do your best. That is all you can do.

:scrying:

I got back my first test today. The class average was about a 62. I got a 78. Everyone was shocked because we all took the test and thought we did really well... well, by everyone I mean my group of friends. Nobody got in the 90s, at all. The highest was an 88, which was my best friend in the class.

Oh well, time to start studying for the next test!

Hope you all did better.

(he doesn't grade on a curve:confused: )

your not lying I have never used a dictionary so much in all my life! I am forever looking up words so I can write or learn new definitions of other words, never ending cycle.

Also I am a terrible speller and our teacher counts for spelling so I am having to work extra hard at learning these new words.

I had this bright idea and I thought I'd share. My 5yo dd decorates her room with drawings of all shapes and sizes. I am going to copy her and tape pictures of all the different bacteria to my wall. I want to include the name and as many details as we've covered so that hopefully it will all sink in before our first practical. I was taken by surprise on a pop quiz the other day and couldn't remember the names of any helminths. So I want to avoid that kind of pain and agony in the future. :) HTH someone else.

I admire your efforts, but dont you think you might dream of all those dreaded microbes all over you? :rotfl: I dont think I could go to sleep knowing those things were the last things I saw before turning out the lights every night. :uhoh3:

The only ones that bother me are the flukes. So much so that I can no longer refer to a very occasional occurrence as one. Now there are only happy accidents in life, no more flukes! :sofahider

That is good that it doesnt bother you. I tend to dream about the last thing that goes through my mind at night, which is usually something to do with school. Sometimes things dealing with Micro, and sometimes A&P 2 which is the heart at the moment. I am looking over all of that stuff from last semester.

I wonder how I will fare in nursing school.

hey im going to start nursing this month, i'll only do microbiology next year, but id like to discuss some ethical questions if anyone is interested...

We are going to be testing disinfectants tomorrow in lab. We did a gram stain on some "bugs" that we colonized and then slanted on Monday. I was unsure if my slide would be correct with the gram staining that I did, but it turned out fine! I am getting into the microscopes and looking forward to lab days. We also had a test on Monday, I'm not sure I am looking forward to that. The test was on glycolysis and metabolism. I do hope she has them graded because I hate the waiting...even if it isn't good! I like hearing what everybody else is doing. The pics on the walls is a good idea if you can handle it! LOL Keep posting with the good ideas and what is happening in your worlds. :jester: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ALL

TexasAngel,

I am curious. The only person that got an A on the test got 100%? Has he/she taken the class before? Is he/she a genius? Does he/she want a study partner?

portugalgirl,

What kind of ethics? I suggest you through out your first question/subject and see what happens:specs:

Good luck

I got a 102% on my frist micro test.

my instructor lets us turn in study guides and get 2pts extra credit. She was shocked 3 of us got 100's. She said she never had a class do so well on the first exam.

We have exam next week on 3 really hard chapters hopefully I keep doing as well.

I am not a genius nor have I taken the class before I just work really hard.
