Here's a question... how far in debt will you be when nursing school is all said and done? How many years are you spending in school? BSN or RN?
I will be $38,000 in debt after two years to earn an RN. This accounts for books and tuition and the loans I have to take to supplement my income and pay my bills while I'm working only part time. Wow, career changes are expensive...
I'll have around $30K. We're not debt fans anymore and are working on getting stuff paid off. Just started Dave Ramsey in April so our outlook has changed but in order for me to find a decent job I need to finish my RN. I had enough pre-reqs done that it wouldn't save me any time or $ to switch to an ADN program so I'm finishing my BSN. I'm hoping to find a job with tuition reimbursement but if not then we'll pay our stupid tax for having debt and continue with our goal of paying everything off and not incurring any other debt ever except a house. Still makes me cringe signing the loan request forms. I feel like a Dave Ramsey hypocrite. Ugh. But, like I said, I'm committed to finishing school and I've waited 10 years to do it so student loans are part of life right now. We life fine off of dh's active duty military income so I'm only getting enough loans to pay tuition and books, not living expenses so that helps.

$12,000 for my RN however my parents are also helping me out. Already paid $30,000 out of pocket for my first B.S. degree so by the time I graduate next year my debt will be $0 . I am also single, no kids, no rent, no bills so after I graduate next year ill finally move out & work take care of myself & pay for my Masters (or let the hospital pay)& DNP assuming I make it that far & keep my sanity!
