For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? around 169

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course?

i took the kaplan course and studied a small portion of kaplan book...did not buy the cd...i took half of the kaplan qbank questions....studied a little from saunders q&a, and saunders comprehensive review...also took half of the questions in nclex incredibly easy. i still feel like none of the study could have ever prepared me enough for this test.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)?ati

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

still waiting. i thought i'd be like this:uhoh3:....but i'm not.

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

it was so weird, i thought i'd be throwing up:barf02: and feeling sick to my stomach. but i prayed for a strength. so i wasn't sad or happy, i was just neutral when i came out. according to my knowledge...if i needed about 60% to pass, i would have failed. there was only about 10 questions that i was sure i knew the answer to. the rest was just a blur. the first 75 questions were hard, then it got easier. so maybe i failed. there was some questions of diseases i haven't even heard of. three med calculations which i got right, i hope. priority questions that just flew over my head that nothing could have prepared me for, not even my son or kaplan. it was like kaplan was teaching me "addition" when i needed to learn "calculus" or something. dope! i mean there was a med question with specific s/s for that med. no one could have known that unless they studied meds one by one or worked with that med before. it was ridiculus. so ridiculus that the stuff i studied including heart, circulatory, renal, respiratory, blah blah blah i could have just thrown out the window. i got only one-three questions specificly related to the big systems. majority of the my test was priority questions dealing with patients. i just wanted to choose all four of them everytime. but it's okay if i don't pass. i'll be a little discourage and drag that testing, but tomorrow will be another day.

6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes siree.

just found out tonight that i passed yesterday. halleluyah! praise the lord!

[color=olive]5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? [color=olive]

after i finished the test i went outside the center with a feeling of having taken the next step in my career, but then i started feeling not confident and as the houres pass i am certain i failed. it is funny because when i was doing the test i felt challenged by every question, so i read and read; and even had a conversation with the question[color=olive], . i tried to picture every question as an alive scenario in my mind, but the question was quite complex ( some long ;some short) this is as if the fisrt sentence of the question were not related to the last four words of the question and all four answers would be the right to pick.

1: 75 questions and passed

2: i took a useless kaplan course which i believe was a wast of $350

3: yes, I had to do ATI and NCLEX 3500 in order to graduate

4: unofficial results were available 48 hours later, official results came 2 weeks after that

5: comeplete uncertainty.......

6. yes it was

1. 90 questions..took 2 1/2 hours...take you time...

2. I used Saunders and NCSBN's online course..I found that this helped the most and was most like the boards

3. We took the HESI but they had us do it before we even studied at all. You are supposed to get at least an 800 and I got like 750 or so...

4. I had to wait exactly 48 hours..no less, no more

5. I was absolutely positive that I failed...I still think I did..but I guess I should get over it now:)

6. Yep..thank god...I would not want to take that test again....

The best thing I can say is stay calm!!

Christi

Careful of NCSBN, just lately. They changed their format. A lot of students got shut out of their accounts, and couldn't log in, again. I got shut out with three weeks left on my account, one week before the test. Thus was unable to finish the course.

But....my SON gave us ERI, I used Kaplan for strategy, Saunders for questions. I take the test tomorrow. Will take a LOOOOOOONG time to find out, because I live in CA. :-(

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Mosby testing to analyze areas of need at graduation - about 260 questions.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Took the test at 8AM, finished at 9:30AM on Tuesday, Found out I PASSED--YEAH!! at 9:45AM on Wednesday via the VA BON automated telephone number.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I was numbed, wanting to cry, relieved at first that it stopped at 75 because I was anxious and ready to be done, and then even more anxious on the ride home as to whether I passed or failed with the 75. Wanted to cry again. Haven't cried yet but will probably do so before the night is up. lol. Basically I have no idea of how I did.

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? i took the exam on a thursday and my results came in today (tuesday) at 0630

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i thought for sure that i had failed. i came out of the exam and almost started crying. i had yet to get any alternative format questions so i thought they would be coming eventually. the exam shut off so suddenly, i thought for sure it would go longer. i assume prioritizing is a weak point because i felt i got lots of those questions. i was a mess but then went and checked out of the hotel i stayed in and drove home. i realized there was nothing i could do but wait and stressing wouldn't change anything
