For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

1. I had 75 questions

2. I used Saunders CD, Kaplan Coursebook, NCLEX 3000 by Springhouse, Mosby's Review Cards for NCLEX-RN Exam, Kaplan Question Trainer CD. I did not get through all of those, I switched around a lot. I took the Kaplan online course, AFTER the first attempt. AND lots of coffee in order to stay awake & study.

3. My program only did a Diagnostic test during the last couple of months of school. From that you could see where you were weak & then work on those areas. Now they're offering students the ERI course, & it's been made part of the curriculum.

4. Still waiting for something in the mail, but found out this morning on the BON website.

5. I actually felt alright until I talked to a former classmate & told him the type of questions that I had (select all that apply). He then told me that someone he knew had lots of those kinds of questions & she FAILED her test.

6. This was my third attempt. The first time, I got 75 questions, the second time I got 265 questions, & this time I got 75 questions.

I would also suggest (if possible) to take a drive to the testing center, & actually go into the room, just to get a feel for it, & also to help decrease anxiety. I also did positive affirmations such as: I can do this. I am going to pass my test on (test date). I am going to be a nurse on (test date). I am ready for this test. I have prepared for this test. I KNOW this information. I think this helped me because I tend to get into the pessimistic mode with the greatest of ease, then it's all downhill from there. I psych myself out. I just had to keep telling myself that I was going to pass.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 120

2. What study materials did you use? Saunders, Kaplan Question Trainer, Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2005-2006

Did you take a test review course? N0

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? A mock CAT test(not sure which one)

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 48 hours after my test cut off

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? Certain that I had failed

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes

I am so glad that this experience is over for me. That test really tested me emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I was so happy when I saw the word "pass" on the Pearson VUE quick results page earlier today.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to test and to those waiting for the results--I know that the waiting is harder than actually taking the test. Remember, try not to concentrate and get bogged down with how many questions you got before the computer cut off. You can pass at any number. I got so bogged down because mine didn't cut off at 75 and just knew that I must have failed. Well, I didn't--all that worrying for nothing!!

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 95-100 (i forgot the exact amount)

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? saunders, kaplan strategy book

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? eri (had to score above the national grade), arnett (which is very similar to the nclex style of testing), and mosby's assess test (which was the hardest i think). we had to score above the national average on all 3 in order to graduate. this statement alone was enough to pushed me. i figured if i can pass all three of these test, i could pass nclex!

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? i found out via mail in 4 days (tested on tuesday and letter came saturday). my information was not posted on the website because my criminal background check was not finished (not that i have a record); but i received my att and took my exam within a 2 week period of nc state board receiving my fees.

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i went into the testing center filled with such confidence and i didn't think i failed, and then i did the inevitable...i attempted to look up every question that boggled my brain (i do not recommend this)! this was the point when my doubts poured in and i was thinking that i may have failed. but my husband was confident that i passed (convenient, right?!)

6. was this your first attempt at nclex?yes and i passed!.

good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

1. The computer shut down at 75 Questions

2. I used Kaplan Preparation Course Book (took the two week class as well. There CD is very similar to NCLEX questions). I also have the Saunders book (really helpful with explanations to help you develop critical thinking)

4. I waited exactly three days for the test result and checked on-line (for free) at CA board of nursing website. I took the test on Saturday, and saw the results on Tuesday.

5. I thought I failed for sure, and couldn't believe that I went through the questions so fast...wishing that I had spent more time on the questions because I was done in 1 1/2hr and when the computer shut down, I was so surprised. When you finish at 75 questions, the only two possibility is that you passed or else, you did really really bad that you fell below the passing line and failed.

6. This was my first NCLEX attempt. I don't want to ever go through that again! Couldn't sleep for the last three days waiting for my score. I didn't want to wait another 3 more months to retake the test if I failed the test...i have a job all worked out already.

p.s. I passed!

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? Everything under the sun - Saunders, Mosby, Lippencott, Kaplan, FlashCards, Kaplan review course - you name it I probably did it in the past 6 months.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Yes. My SON uses ATI and requires an ATI exam at the end of every semester.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Still waiting. 10 hours to go. Feels like 100 days.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? Numb. Total disbelief that the computer turned off. Wanted to ask them to turn it back on. I felt as though it was an exam for advanced practice.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes, and hopefully the last. But just for everyone out there - Do your best, feel confident that you did everything you could have and be proud of yourself. :wink2:

P.S. I prayed for everyone before the test - our healthcare system really needs us to join the ranks of those who have held it together. Thanks to all the nurses who have paved the way to a professional career.
