2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75 :uhoh3:

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

I took Kaplan Complete with the question bank on the computer. I loved the question bank...you could design your own exams to practice your weak areas. The classroom time was a waste of time for me. They literally went over 75-80 questions and talked you through using the decision tree. I really could have figured it out by reading the book and saved alot of time and money. I reccommend the $35.00 Kaplan review book and the question bank...I think that's going for $99.00.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

We had ERI billed into our tuition...without my permission UGGGH. It was a waste of money for me while in school. The tests that were manditory did not provide any feedback so was a useless learning tool. The review course was a 4 day deal. Unfortunately it was after school was out and during the day...not conducive for a mom of three kids who are also out of school. I chose the Kaplan course because it had a good reputation and it was offered in the evenings:)

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

I'm praying to hear tomorrow. I'm in PA and our BON posts it in 2 days :)

I just called BON and I PASSED

I found out I passed in 24 hours...how cool is that? I don't think my GI system could have held out much longer!!!

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

I thought the questions were just like the Kaplan questions so felt pretty good. Now I am a nervous wreck.....

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Yes..and I'm praying it's the last!

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

75 questions, NCLEX-RN. 3 alternate format questions (2 mult. response and one fill-in-the-blank drug calculation).

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

I took a week long review course from meds publishing at my college. They scheduled it the week after I graduated (in May) which was like ancient history. The instructors used the meds pub quizzes with our classes and with the amount of money we paid for the online quizzes...they threw the review in for "free." They supplied a book which included the "important" things to know...that was very helpful.

I used the Kaplan "strategy" guide, which I HIGHLY recommend. The test taking strategies are a very useful tool!! The book holds the secrets to the NCLEX-RN.

I used the NCLEX-3500 computer software. The alt. format questions that it supplied were very helpful. It has a few different neat options. You can take an assessment test where it will point out your weaknesses and strengths (much like the CD-ROM in the back of that Kaplan "strategy" book), another type of test that mimicks the NCLEX (where you don't see the answers till the end) and a review-type test where once you click the answer you get the rationale. You can pick from a variety of different topics and set it up so it meets your needs.

I also took two alt. format quizzes on meds pub online.

Oh yeah, ANNND...I went to http://www.caring4you.net/herbs.html and printed out a herbal drug fact sheet that the creater of the website made. It was very helpful since I indeed had an herbal drug question on my test.

It may seem like I studied a lot but to tell you the honest truth I didn't start looking at stuff until like 5 days before the test and I felt so distracted that I probably only got 2 real days of studying in. Gotta love procrastination!!

Two days before my test, I went to an amusement park and sat in the water park all day...and the night before my test I went and watched a sunset on the beach. It's all about relaxation!!

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

No.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

I waited a little less than two days and found out on pearsonvue.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

I laughed. Honestly, it was so ridiculous that all I could do was laugh. I thought I had failed. I felt like I was guessing on every answer and I thought it was the hardest test I had ever taken.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Yes. I found out yesterday that I had passed!!

1. I got 75 questions

2. I did 1000 questions on the Kaplan Q bank, I did the CD on Kaplans review book, I did an assessment on ATI, the school did a ERI review. I looked at the green Saunders book, and I had a copy of the Hurst review materials.

3.My SON used HESI the first year and changed to ERI our senior year. We also were required to turn in NCLEX questions from Saunders and NCLEX 3000 every semester. I'll bet we did 1000's of them.

4.I am in TN, we are not a quick results state. It took seven days to come up on the State BON's phoneline and eight to come up on the website. I founD out today!

5. I really thought I had failed it with 75 questions. I felt the same way I felt when I took the ACT years ago.

6. First atempt

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

I had 75 questions....it was the worst feeling ever when the computer screen just went blank

I used the Kaplan review book (which I recommend over the classes...they pretty much cover the same thing...as stated by multiple classmates who did the classes and had the books), Lippincott's, NCLEX Review Made Incredibly Easy

My School required us to take HESI each semester. We had to pass with a 800 after 2nd semester and pass with a 900 after 4th semester to graduate.

I waited 24 hours and called my board of nursing license verification and I'M THERE!!

I was kind of shocked that it was over so quickly (I was only there like an hour)...I was very sure that I must have failed horribly

This was my first attempt and my last attempt....GOODBYE FOREVER DARNED NCLEX!!!!!!!!

I'M OFFICIALLY AN RN....Thats Nurse Jessica to you :nurse:
