  1. hey Im in brandon fl on a travel assignment. i have been a nurse for a year and half. Took my first travel assignment here in florida and i absolutely loove it. i re-signed for a 2nnd contract and plan on staying here. going to TGH in december.
  2. I work at brandon regional. i took my firstt travel assgnmnt here 3 months ago where come from okl. brandon is ok. after bypassing some of the downs here ive come to like it. i work in a overflow type unit. i re signed another 3 month contract 1 month ago, but in dec im going to TGH d/t brandon doesn't want to rehire agentcy or travel nurses.
  3. Unless i have worked with infectious people, i dont change and often go to store on the way home etc. there are germs everywhere around us, anyways. when you go to grab the shopping cart etc. but unless i have been around something contagious or infectious i just dont do it. i have never brought anything home or to my child.
  4. Oh i so understand. i have been on orientation for about 2 months, and am getting off in 2 weeks . i work a stepdown unit. I am still trying to find my routine. if you have any help , let me know. Its so hectic during the day, we have heart cath patients coming back and many other scenarios. i feel sometimes im being pushed to my limits. In 2 weeks i will be on my own and working days. im scared because days are extremely busy with heart caths, cabg patients , all the dr, and orders and just everything else. friday i had a rough day , a certain doc was rude as hell. i will keep my head up but i am nervous of the day thing. i work 3 or 4 12's and then off . if anyone has suggestions for a routine let me know. i have had several preceptors so i feel as if ive been thrown to the wolves. gotta go the little one is calling. Please help.
  5. I too am new and still on orientation on a stepdown unit. i might as well be off because i never see my "preceptor". there are days i think its totally unsafe, because pts with drips, post recovery heart caths, and etc. and then you have me , believe me if i have a question i will hunt anyone down to ask, its just sad that you have to hunt them down when you are still on trainging. Meanwhile i have to remind my self to breath and not get in to much of a hurry and to be safe.
  6. whoops posted on wrong thread :rotfl:
  7. where did you graduate from? i graduated in april and passed nclex a few weeks ago. work at integris. see ya around
  8. Okay, just graduated april and passed NCLEX. I have been on the job now for a few weeks, yesterday at work i had this 81 year old man who takes Lisinopril, Diovan and Clonidine. Okay the mar has all of these scheduled at the same time. He at home takes them on a totally diff. schedule but i was told to tell him he is to take it on our schedule. As if he didn't know what doesnt work best for him. so anyways his bp was 160-170's over 70's. later on in the day his bp bottomed out to like 70's over 50s. the nurse i worked with was like dont worry because he is asymptomatic. i thought he needed to be bolused, anyway she said call the dr. cause its not my job to assume what he wants. called and he said to bolus. anyway, when do begin to become concerened with low bp? only when syptomatic? and bp med. would you give those all at the same time even if that is how it is scheduled? needles to say i held the rest of the bp meds that day including the lasix because of the pressure problems. it just seems like i was concerned with the man and the nurse was like oh thats not bad. So help with advice for the future. Thanks> Alliecat
