  1. What are your thoughts on the aforementioned hospital ?
  2. I would like your opinion on either one of these hospitals. The info I am really interested in knowing is nurse : patient ratio, major diagnosis affecting either med surg or peds units, how the staff is treated , benefits ? Were you happy ? Thanks for any response to this thread.
  3. Hello Everyone, Good Morning...Good Afternoon...Good Evening whenever you read this thread. I posted a while back that I was moving to the New Tampa area and was searching for work. I just moved back this weekend and am awaiting the arrival next week of the moving truck :-). I just recently received my permit to work in Florida. For those of you reading this post and do not know, I am a new graduate from NY that just moved to the New Tampa area. I received my BS in Nursing and passed my NCLEX in May. I worked as a nurse intern for a year on a Pediatrics unit with rotations to other areas. I am currently looking for employment in either Pediatrics or Woman's Health. I have been applying for jobs through various websites and have had some recruiters call me back but have not been as successful as I thought I would be. I guess the biggest issue was that I did not have a permit, but I do now. Does anyone here recommend any hospital or have any contact information ? Here are a few of my concerns and I am sure many of you had the same and can help me out: I am looking for a hospital that offers a competitive salary (Yes, I know down here I will make much less then up north), medical benefits, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement or forgiving of student loan, what is the nurse:patient ratio ?, what are the most common diagnosis in the area that you have seen ?, How are the staff in your hospital? How long is the probation period in your hospital ? How are the preceptos? I have so many concerns right now, but of the many, those are just a few. I know this thread is long so I thank any person in advance that took the time out to read it and reply. SapphireRN
  4. Hello Everyone, As I had written in previous posts, I am moving in two weeks. I already sent my endorsement application almost two weeks ago and am waiting. I began applying for positions online and have had mostly recruiters calling me. I have not heard much from anyone. Does anyone have any suggestions on hospitals that are good for either PEDS or Women's Health ? Salary? Tuition reimbursement? Retirement plans ? Any advice on the interview process ? I am moving to the New Tampa area off of Bruce B Downs near I-275, 54, 56. I know I am going to have to take travel into consideration as I have been told that there is a lot of traffic, but I am used to it since I am coming from NYC. Any help from anyone in the area would be greatly appreciated! :-)
  5. Thank You for your help. I am going to look into those hospitals. I would prefer remaining in PEDS or Women's Health. I have the most experience in those areas. Does anyone else have any other suggestions ? I am also looking for a hospital that would offer tuition reimbursement....also interested in vacation time, sick time, medical....... etc.....
  6. Hello All, I just passed my NCLEX examination from NY and am in the process of beginning the arduous process of license endorsement for Florida. I currently work as a nurse intern in a hospital up north in Pediatrics. I performed the majority of the nursing functions under the supervision of the RN in the past, but now that I have my license everything has changed. I already have a home in the New Tampa area and finally want to make the move. I just wanted some friendly advice as to the best hospitals that are in the area so I can begin to send out my résumé. I know the salary is much less from up north, but I wanted a ball park. How are the benefits ? What is the nurse to patient ratio ? How are the staff of the hospital to which you are referring? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to reading any responses. SapphireRN
  7. I am in the same situation. I just passed the NCLEX for NY and am investigating the process of applying for a license in Florida. From what I have researched, Florida does not have reciprocity, however, they will allow you to work if you go through the process of license endorsement. You will be able to keep the license you already have, but will have to apply for a seperate one for Florida. You should begin the process now because it atkes approximately 90 days. You may go here to get further information and download the application for endorsement in Florida http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur%5Flic%5Freqend.html http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_faq.html#Endorsement http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_applications.html I am currently re-locating to Tampa and have been really looking into this. i hope this helps you.
