Hi all So glad to have found a thread with Drexel students. I am also starting the Peds Primary NP program this fall. Can we possibly start a facebook group if everyone is interested. I am excited and nervous about this journey.

Would you consider doing family NP and getting a job in peds on the side to help you with peds skills.

Hi there I actually work at that hospital (not in trauma) but the actual hospital is University of Maryland Medical Center. You may want to ask agencies if they have positions there in the trauma center. Hope this helps Good luck!

I am currently a pedi traveler and have been so for awhile. I will do either general pediatrics or pedi heme/onc. There are plenty of jobs out there for peds travelers. I have traveled with Nurse Choice and American Mobile. It just usually depends on what I am looking for at the time. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask or pm me!

@ spoiled1 When I started I did it by myself. It wasn't't too bad but it is better when you have someone else. I recommend to try it out you will meet so many new people and maybe you will find people you can travel with. You never know a year could turn into longer. Again if you have questions feel free to email or message me.

Hey You will definitely have to just jump in there and do it. I say you have enough experience to become a travel nurse. Once you do your first assignment you will have an idea of what to expect. Just keep using sites such as this one to be your resource. You will be ok. Feel free to ask me or others questions I am sure there are folks willing to give advice. Good Luck!

Hello I have worked for nurse choice for a few years. I love them. They are under AMN. Nurse choice does specialize in short contracts normally but they so get some 13 week and even 20 week contract. I am currently on assignment through them and I was originally contracted for 13 weeks but I have extended for an additional 4 weeks. Hope this helps!

Hello Just wanted to reply. I have actually worked with Nurse Choice on two assignments. Both assignments were 8 week assignments. I believe I recieved two days at the first hospital which a small hospital in Texas. For the second assignment which was a large teaching hospital in SoCal I recieved one day of orientation but I had to work without a password for a couple days which really is PIA. Hope that helps. Good Luck BTW- these were not my first travel assignments. I started out doing local travel but they were 13 week assignments.

I am actually not married yet but will be getting married next year and I travel without my fiance. I actually will not so any assignments over two months after about four weeks either I go home or he comes to visit me. Its not too bad I definitely miss him but eight week assignments go really fast. You could also do four and six week contracts also. Hope that helps!
