I had four books with CDs, including Kaplan, Saunders, Lippincott, and Princeton Review. I also took the Kaplan review course.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

No

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

Alabama is not a quick results state, so I had to wait about a week to find out that I passed.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

I felt as though I were in shock. I thought I had failed. The only questions I could remember were ones I then looked up the answers to and realized I had gotten wrong. Every single question I could remember. I cried dozens of times before the results came.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Yes.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

Kaplan Question Trainers (the way to go), Saunders comprehensive review 3rd edition, and NCSBN online (learningext.com).

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

No

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 48 hours in NY with quick results online.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

I felt like I had passed, which is a rare feeling for me. I am ALWAYS assuming the worst! I have kaplan question trainer to thank....i happened to do the 7 tests the week before the NCLEX and feel that I could have passed with JUST these. During the test however, my anxiety was a nightmare. All I can remember was trying not to trip over my own feet on the way down the hall!

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Yes, thank God!:heartbeat

I just took the NCLEX this AM and I am freaking out. I have no idea if I passed or not. It shut off at 79 questions and I just don't know some questions were hard and some weren't. I took the NCLEX review course at did practice questions at home (thats it). Now I guess I wait.

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 very difficult questions that covered all aspects of nursing. no repeat questions on any areas!

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? i used saunders comprehensive review book and took a kaplan review class.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? ati testing which told me i had a 99% probability of passing the nclex the first time.

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 2 days, which surprised me because ca does not participate in the quick results program! but my license number was up in 2 days on the brn website.

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i felt like all the studying i did was for nothing and i was pretty certain i had failed. i also felt very unsure of myself and my answers!! the wait was excruciating!

6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes!! and i passed!

1. 75 Seemed like the questions got hard pretty quickly. Priority questions and drug questions. It took about 1-1.5 hrs

2. I used Zerwekh and Claborn and also a Saunders book. I just borrowed them from the library, did not go out and spend any money on them. They were also from 2000. So yeah they were older but basic nursing concepts that I wanted to refresh has stayed the same.

3. My school used ATI I scored as 98% to pass the test at the time I took it. We had a three day review at the end of May that we paid extra for.

4. It took 48hrs to get the results on Pearson Vue which I paid for cause I couldn't wait any longer. I took the test on Friday and my state said results thru ohio bon was posted in 24hrs so I was really upset they weren't there on Sat. Actually my results were not posted to Monday evening. How did people wait for a month for results in the "olden days" is a mystery to me. They would have to put me in a medically induced coma. So if you take the test on Friday or around a holiday prepare for a wait from your bon if you don't live in a quick result state.

5. While I was taking the test I had a feeling it was going to cut off at 75. The questions seemed to be harder and harder. I was relieved it was done. I was glad that I used to earplugs they gave me.

6. My first attempt I passed!!

My advice is the day before the test is to relax, try not to cram your head with last min. knowlege. Eat a good dinner and get a good night's sleep. It is a good idea to find out where exactly your testing spot is. I was lucky and left early to the testing site because I had a hard time finding it. You can not bring anything into the testing room with you but they provide with a locker so you can bring snacks if you need it. Take your time and don't feel rushed.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 85 questions

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?I had a tutor, used Saunders, Kaplan, NCSBN. Did not take a test review course.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Yes, the HESI we had to score at least a 800 (you had 3 chances), or you would not graduate. I failed the first time w/ 745, on my 2nd attempt scored 965.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 48 hours...Then I found-out I had PASSED...

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I knew I HAD FAILED, FELT LIKE VOMITING ALL THE WAY HOME....

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? 1st attempt @ the NCLEX-PN ( I had been out-of-school for about 11 months)

Please try to stay busy after taking the exam, because you will have POST NCLEX SYNDROME....LOL

1. 75 questions

2. No review course, used Kaplan CD, CD, and NCLEX Simulator CD

3. Had HESI in school, got 823

4. 5 days

5 I cried on the way home and stayed in bed for 3 days, convinced that I failed

6.1st time

Advice: I was not a great student, just did the bare minimum to pass. For the NCLEX, I just did thousand of questions by myself and made sure I understood the rationale behind the correct answer. I think knowing the rationale is key

Specializes in icu.

I had 75 questions - took me about 45 minutes to complete.

I used Saunders (book and CD) and NCLEX-RN Made Incredibely Easy.

My school offered the ERI exams after each lecture section(OB, Peds, Psych, etc..). We were also able to do the ERI NCLEX review after graduation, but I didn't find that to be very helpful.

I tested on Wednesday am at 9:00 and knew my results by Friday am at 11:00.

I was a little nervous after the test, but tried to tell myself that I had prepared the best I could. Looking back on it now, it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Oh, and by the way I did pass!!!!

I have waited a long time to be able to reply to this post!!!!

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

Saunders, Mosby CAT and Kaplan Question Trainers, all 7 of them (Did not take the class though)

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? No. We took the NLN NCLEX predictor test though. It was very vague, but I did well on it.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 48 looong hours to the minute!

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I called my friend who took it 2 hours before me and said "What the F@*# was that all about!?" I was convinced I failed, but at the same time had a glimmer of hope, as I was a decent test taker through school and read on this site how people felt post-NCLEX. That helped me keep the faith a bit.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes and thank God my last!!!

I've waited a while to answer this question, too

1. 75

2. Lippincott's NCLEX review and ATI's review books, didn't take a class

3. We had to take ATI tests after each subject area every semester (fundamentals, med-surg, peds, etc.) as well as a comprehensive test at the end of our senior year; the comprehensive test ended up being pretty similar to the NCLEX

4. I just took it today - the waiting begins

5. I feel pretty good about it (knock on wood) - we'll see

6. First and hopefully my last

1. 75 questions

2. Kaplan complete; some Saunders, and Mosby online CAT.

3. Yes, our SON had us take a practice test in both Spring of our second year, and during our third year. Both were CAT tests -- the first was Medpro and the second was the ATI comprehensive predictor test.

4. I live in California where the BRN does not use Pearson's rapid results. For me it took two full weeks to find out my results. The main reason was that they had not processed my transcripts. Some of my friends had their results in 2-3 days -- these folks had jobs to start and actually hand delivered their transcripts to Sacramento.

5. I broke down and sobbed when I left. My husband asked me to call him and let him know how many q's etc. and I sobbed the entire way home. I was absolutely certain I'd failed because I felt a little shaky on meds, when to take them, with what, etc. and the computer kept throwing more and more med questions at me. Thought that was a sure sign. That, plus the fact that I knew the answer to maybe 5 of the 75 questions. It was the hardest test I have EVER taken.

6. This was my first attempt at the NCLEX. I passed!!!
