  1. My husband and I are really considering moving from PA to the Houston area. (We have visited a few times and love it there) I am a Med-Surg nurse with a focus on Bariatric Surgery and Kidney Transplant at a large urban hospital. I'm starting to look for a job in Houston and feel so overwhelmed. Any suggestions? Also, if anyone knows the starting salaries in Houston, I would love that info too. Thanks!!
  2. 1. 75 questions 2. No review course, used Kaplan CD, Drexel CD, and NCLEX Simulator CD 3. Had HESI in school, got 823 4. 5 days 5 I cried on the way home and stayed in bed for 3 days, convinced that I failed 6.1st time Advice: I was not a great student, just did the bare minimum to pass. For the NCLEX, I just did thousand of questions by myself and made sure I understood the rationale behind the correct answer. I think knowing the rationale is key
  3. Try doing questions from another publisher. Drexel university has a greaat online program for the NCLEX. Or even go to the bookstore and grab a bunch of NCLEX books and do qustions from them. I think the Saunders book was not writtenin NCLEX type format so it might not be helping you. And focus on priority setting----that seems to be the focus of NCLEX this year. Good Luck!
  4. Call the PA board of nursing--their number is on the website. Just let them know that you need to know if a license has been issued. Also, you cancheckonline and see the status of your GN license. Good luck!!!
  5. I bought a pair of Danskos. They take a week or two to mold to your feet, and after that, they feel great. And they are really easy to keep clean
  6. I bought this NCLEX simulator CD off of Ebay and it was great. There were comprehensive tests and specific tests that focused on each area. You could also just take random questions (as many as you want) and whenever you felt like stopping, it would give you your score. I liked it because I was able to focus on my weak areas, and there were so many questions that I didn't get repeats. Good Luck!!!
  7. I took my NCLEX today and I knew about 4 questions. I have done the Kaplan, HESI, and Drexel reviews and felt really prepared for it...Until it began. The questions were difficult, most of the drugs I had never heard of, and there names didn't elp me figure out what thye were for either! I also a a lot of "select all that apply" and tons that I had a hard time selecting the BEST answer for. The computer shut off at 75, and I really do not feel confident at this point. The questions all seemed really difficult and left me feeling awful!!!!
