Nursing Students NCLEX

For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

6. was this your first attempt at nclex?

also...last semester of school was included management. that helped out a great deal with the prioritization questions.

Hi! ms. Suzanne, i havent taken the NCLEX,but i am planning of taking it. I actually started by requesting the transcript of record from the school where i graduated. But, i have some questions, i started my bsn course last 1991-93 in a Nursing school in manila. Then i stopped and resume my study after 10 years,in which 2003 i continued it in another school from which i graduated 2006 only. I am confused if I should give a request for TOR ( Transcript of record) on the first school where i begin my nursing degree????? One more question is what are the other documents needed when i applied for cali-BON?

I already have downloaded the application form and it stated there that i need to pay $137 for the appl. fee, interim permit and the fingerprint card. Do i really need an interim permit, where can i use it? I hope you can enlighten me with my problem, and im looking forward for the soonest possible time of your reply. Thanks and have a good day!;)

Specializes in awaiting for Schedule A visa...

Hi! I am not Ms. Suzanne but I want to share my experience. I've taken NCLEX already and now waiting for my results.

I didn't apply for the Interim Permit because I do not have a working visa. If you do not have a working visa, there is no point applying for the interim permit as you will not be able to use it. At the same time, if you apply for it, you will be required to submit a passing TOEFLE rating. I saved myself from the those burdens.

In regards to transcript, I had a different case. I studied nursing in 1996 and 1997 and then I shifted to another course. Then, I continued nursing in 2003-05 in the same schoold where I started so I didn't have any problem with transcripts.

1. Took 75 questions.

2. Kaplan (book and computer), and just about every other study book out there. Kaplan helped me the most (I believe), especially the focus on what to look for in questions and how to get to what the question is really asking.

3. At school we did ATI, but I don't think it was anything like the NCLEX.

4. I looked up my results on the computer exactly 53 hours after the test.

5. I was certain that I had failed...when that screen suddenly turned black, my heart sank and I thought I was done for!

7. Yes, and I passed...phew!!!!!!

Good luck to all! It will happen!

1. how many questions did you take on nclex? i had 75

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? i took kaplan and just did questions from saunders and kaplan for review.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? at the end of the final semester we took an ati

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?49 hours from the time i finished it

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?immediately coming out, i knew i'd passed. then i started to doubt, but even with doubts, i was pretty sure i passed. i was let down a bit because i felt that only my grasp of nursing process was tested (critical thinking etc) versus actual medical/nursing knowledge. in hindsight, that was probably not such a bad thing. i was worried for a while because the test was too easy compared to the ones at school. but also different.

6. was this your first attempt at nclex?yes, and thankfully my last! :)

1. how many questions did you take on nclex?

75 questions

2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course?

mostly kaplan. i did the kaplan classroom review(which i thought was totally useless). what i did find very valuable was the kaplan qbank and qtrainers. i used saunders some but found those questions to be too easy because they're more knowledge-based. same with the nclex insanely easy book as well as many other "nclex review books". i also did the mosby cat test online. in my opinion, the kaplan questions are more like nclex than anything out there.

3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)?

our exit exam was by kaplan

4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

tested on july 25th at 8am. my rn license # was posted on the bon website by about 3pm on july 26th.

5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

i was basically numb. i wasn't sure if i should come home and celebrate or if i should come home and drag out the books to start studying for my next attempt.

6. was this your first attempt at nclex?

yes, by the grace of god, i passed nclex-rn the first time.

1. 75

2. Got bored after looking at questions in those study books, so didn't really study.

3. HESI, I got over 850 (we had to go over 600)

4. 3 days, it was on the board of nursing website, & yes I passed

5. I either did really good or really bad

6. Yup, my one and only

Specializes in Pediatrics.

1. NCLEX-PN 85 Crazy test. i don't think any amount of studying would have helped

2. ATI, Lipincot, cliff notes

3. took it 8-08. still waiting for results. I'm in CA so results take 4-8 weeks

I felt like I failed. Now I teeter from one mood to the other the 1/2 second of well maybe I passed to the majority of I know I failed.

How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? An old NCLEX Review book from 1993- and the Mosby's CAT Test Excelsior sends their grads.

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? No

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

7 long days- tennessee is not a quick results state.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I was pretty happy and felt I had passed, but as the days went on, I wasn't so sure....lol

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? First RN, I took the PN in 2003 and passed first attempt with 85 questions.
