For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
80
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
DREXEL review course, NSNA study book and CDROM, any free question sites I could find on the internet, Mosby's NCLEX cards, and I made sure to memorize my lab values and what they mean as well as what the normal vital signs are for various ages of children
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
Well the 1st nursing school did ATI and HESI, second one did HESI for us, but have now switched to ATI (DH is military and we transfered bases while I was in nursing school so I had to switch schools)
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
I did the quick results so 48 hours exactly.
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
total disbelief and I was ALMOST certain I failed...actually I cried and had moments of panic
6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
yes

1. 75
2. Lippencott Review book with sample questions and sample questions in class modules
3. No
4. 1 month
5. Certain I had passed and thought that this was easiest most straightforward test I had taken since beginning nursing school.
6. Yes
I'll be taking the NCLEX in only 3 wks. What review do you recommend I should use????? I'm extremely nervous & unsure, but want to get it over with. Also, to take it before the new exam on April 1st.I have Saunders and Davis as of now. Do yo recommend others?
Please help.

There is a new exam?? IOW, they created more monsters than 'choose all that apply', pictures to identify, and placing things in order of importance? Oh, God, if so, then, yeah, I'd try and take it earlier.
All jokes aside, if the exam is three weeks from now, it makes no sense to throw something new in the game...finish what you have been practicing on...the Saunders and Davis. Each study program has it's own way of wording things, it's own personality, so to speak and to adjust to another one now may confuse you. Go over your weak points and keep practicing questions, read the rationales to both, right as well as wrong answers, and try and think positive. When you get there, do not pay attention to anyone else there...no conversations about what question you got, etc... Focus on yourself and positive feelings (as hard as it may be). Good luck!
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?
I passed it the first time with 75 questions.
2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?
I think I studied just about everything: Saunders, Lippincott, Mosby, Davis and Kaplan. In the end, I found Kaplan to be the most useful.
3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?
My school was in the process of switching from ATI to HESI so, we took both. To me, the ATI was worthless. One of the students in my class who scored really well on the ATI failed the NCLEX. I thought the HESI was more helpful.
4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?
For people who took the test long before our school submitted their records to the board ... the wait was a long as 7 weeks. If you took the test after the records were processed the wait was a little as 2-3 days. If there was a problem with your transcripts (as it was in my case) the wait was longer ... a week.
5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?
I was so used to people saying they thought they'd failed who didn't that I sort of conditioned myself not to feel that way. I didn't think I bombed it but I wasn't totally confident either.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?
1. I took 75 questions on the NCLEX-RN
2. I did not take a test review course, but I used NCLEX 3000 software, Saunder's comprehensive NCLEX review book, Kaplan review book, Mosby flashcards and a Lippincott alternate format questions book
3. My school used ATI testing; you had to pass the final RN comprehensive predictor with a certain score, or else you were required to take a Kaplan review course (and foot the bill yourself)
4. I used quick results and received my score 48 hours after my test
5. I definitely thought I had failed the test after I walked out of the testing center! I kept second-guessing myself and felt pretty awful for those two days of waiting!
6. This was my first attempt at the test...thank god it's all over with! :)

I just passed the NCLEX last week!:balloons:
1. 75 Questions
2. Kaplan (the class and the QBank and stuff)
3. Stupid ATI all the way through, but I was totally opposed to that. Passing at a certain percentage was even part of our course grades!
4. 24 hours for test results
5. Felt kinda numb and funny. What would I do with all my time if not study??? :sofahider
Then, later that night, I cried and cried because I was so sure I failed it in 75 questions (because it was pretty hard, I thought).
6. yes.
