Here are the exact steps to see if you passed the NCLEX exam on the Pearson Vue web site.
Updated:
Very important: At this point, if you get a pop up that says 'the candidate currently has test results that are on hold. A new registration cannot be created at this time.', it has nothing to do with passing or failing; it just means that they are reviewing your records due to random reviews that they conduct, or because they needed to locate some data or papers, etc.
This means you will possibly have to wait a few more days than your friends who did not get this message. If you get the message 'Records indicates you have recently registered for this test please contact BON. An appointment cannot be scheduled at this time.', that means you passed. If you do not get either message and go straight to the credit card information page, that means you did not pass.
Your Pearsonvue account must state that delivery is successful before you try the trick.
Poll to take once you have received your response:
Pearsonvue trick - Poll once you receive your results - nursing for nurses
The original thread (part 1 and 2) are now closed.
I also tested today and got the good pop up. I am hoping I can get unofficial quick results towards the end of my shift on Monday. It would be nice anyway.
Disa - Where in NY are you from? I graduated from a good and tough nursing school in NY as well (I live and work in CT now)! I am curious because your avatar pinning picture looks a lot like mine lol.
I graduated from Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY. I know Associate Degree RNs are slowly going to disappear, but this wasn't a "reality" when I started. I'm enrolled at SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall to earn my Bachelor's degree online.
Our school is notorious for being tough...and I will say, I had to want it EVERY day...it was life-changing. We started with around 70, and graduated with 41. There were 42 of us until the last final...the FINAL final actually knocked someone out (it was hard though, LOL)
LOL Nice, I used to live on Plattsburgh Air Force Base when I was a kid (dad was in the USAF at the time)!! I hear ya on school. I graduated from another tough upstate NY community college. My job pays for BSN (as most do now), so I am enrolling in CCSU (in CT) for my RN-BSN. Yay for us!!
so someone please explain "good pop up" and "quick results"?what a world away from a hundred years ago when we had to wait months? years? I can't remember but it seemed FOREVER to get results!
Pop-up trick or Pearson Vue Trick, a.k.a. PVT:
After taking the NCLEX, you go to the Pearson Vue website and attempt to reregister for another exam.
If you get a pop-up saying you can't register for whatever reason--I think they say something is already pending--that's considered the "good" pop-up. Getting that (usually) means you passed.
If you are allowed to register and get to the payment screen, it (usually) means you failed.
I say (usually) since I have heard somewhere online about a couple of cases where the pop-up test was inaccurate. So it may not be 100% accurate...more likely than not the PVT works, but again, I wouldn't begin official celebrations without the official results just to be safe.
And...
Quick results:
In some states, you can pay extra money to receive NCLEX results faster, within 48 hours or less. Not available in all states. Since the results come from Pearson through your BON, they are more accurate than the PVT. However, they are unofficial, so again: don't start listing yourself as RN/LVN on job applications just yet.
Some of the posts indicate that there is a new good Pearson Vue popup ("The candidate has previously passed..."). I took the NCLEX Saturday, July 7, 2012 and didn't get the new good popup, but the old one ("Records indicate you have recently registered..."). I received my quick results today, Monday, July 9, 2012, and I did pass. The trick worked for me.

I just took my NCLEX-RN today...I felt the admission process was extremely intense and made my nervousness shoot up to the max. I graduated from a nursing program that is prestigious and known as being very tough...with a 97% pass rate, so I felt well-prepared and confident. Needless to say I was PRAYING that the computer would shut off at 75 questions as it had for many of my classmates who have recently taken it, but it just kept on going...with each question past 75 I became more and more crushed and discouraged. The beast finally keeled over at 155 questions. I didn't count, but I would estimate about 20 SATA, no sound, no hot spots, and maybe 10 dosage calculations.
Holy crap.
Walked out quickly to try to keep it together and not cry in front of the proctors...felt like nursing school--no matter how tough it was--had not prepared me for this.
I IMMEDIATELY pulled out my cell phone and checked to see if the "trick" would work. My results had been delivered so I continued to try to re-register and got the so-called "good" pop-up. Trying like heck to believe it, but I'll never deny how HARD that test was.
So...48 business hours huh until "quick results?" I'm in NY, and I'm at least thankful for that. But, that timeline places me in my car with my entire family traveling to our remote vacation destination that was planned before I scheduled my exam. I'm seriously hoping that results will appear Monday afternoon (48 actual hours, counting Sunday as a "business" day), and I won't need to wait until Tuesday. I'd at least like to have time to compose myself and grieve the time and money spent without my family witnessing my shame. I'm trying to have faith in that "good" popup, but I'd much rather see the word PASS next to my name.
Anyone out there that tested on a Saturday and got results on Monday?
