  1. I was just wondering, we all share our experiences here and while I have rarely seen names or locations used I was just wondering if this is a hipaa violation. In my last post I talked about my general experience I have had so far but I never used a specific patient, nor the location I work in, nor any names. I hope that is not a HIPAA violation. Am I worrying to much or should I have my post deleted?
  2. Hi everyone. I started a job as an RN on a med/surg floor a few weeks ago and I already feel burned out. Yes, I have had some wonderful patient experiences and have met some really great people. However, the hospital I work at gets a lot of nursing home patients and many of the patients are confused, incontinent, and FULL CODES!! I have been swung at, pinched, and yelled at multiple times already and the number of beds I've had to change and patients I've had to clean up is a lot! Especially given that I have only had a few weeks on the unit. We have some patients who are full codes (at the insistence of their families) although they have no quality of life left (I'm talking feeding tubes, incontinence, extreme morbid obesity and end stages of dementia). I just feel so un-motivated sometimes when I care for these patients. I do give them good care, I am not neglectful, and I try to talk to them as if they know who I am but it's so frustrating, I have to double up my efforts to care for them and by the end of the day I am exhausted. Not to mention my back I know is going to get injured because of these patients. Any advice? I'm here for at least 6 months before I can move so any words of wisdom, advice, would be greatly appreciated :-).
  3. I scored in the 50s and low 60s on the question trainers. I think you will be OK. Just make sure you read the rationales for the questions, that helps a lot!
  4. I just found out today that I passed the NCLEX. I am not writing this for congratulatory remarks but only to say a few things. I only had 4 SATA and was extremely worried, because it seemed like that everyone who passed had in the 20s and 30s. My test shut off at 75 questions. I had a few drop and drag, a few meds, and a couple of calculations and a good handful of priority and delegation. So seriously, I wouldn't over-analyze the types of questions you get when you take the test. There are many different forms of higher level questions it seems and they aren't always SATA. I finished the exam in around 45 minutes and was also very nervous for that too, and the proctor woman seemed to frown upon that. But I have always been a fast test taker so I guess this test wasn't any different. My online Kaplan resource seemed to be the most helpful for me, especially the videos and question trainers. Reading the rationales helped a lot as well. Also, the PVT worked for me and I checked it about 10 minutes after I finished the exam. I also checked an hour after, a couple of hours after, and about 12 hours after and kept getting the good pop-up. Today I received my quick results as a pass. I hope this helps some people!
  5. I took it yesterday and got the good pop-up right after the exam and also at night. I am too scared to check again today. In less than 12 hours I will know my RN fate.
  6. I finished in around 45 minutes. Checked when the Pearson Vue page said "Delivery Succesful" and got the good pop-up. Would my test timing affect that?
  7. I took the test today too and got the good pop-up but I can barely believe it. I was so nervous and I only got 4 SATA although I DID get quite a few drop and drags and prioritization/delegation questions. I was almost crying as mine shut off at 75 too. I couldn't believe it and I didn't/don't know what to think! I am so nervous!
  8. Yes I tried it and got the good pop-up but honestly I feel like I did so horribly I am not believing it until I know the official results!
  9. When did you take the exam? Was it today?
  10. Good luck! I just took mine today, I hope the results are good. I was so nervous!
  11. I don't know if it's lucky though! From what it seems like on this board SATA means you are doing really well and definitely passed right?
  12. Ahhhhh! I am so stressed right now. I took the exam with 75 questions, only 4 SATA, 4 ordering questions and 2 or 3 math and a good handful of prioritization and delegation. I did the PVT and got the "good" pop-up. But how accurate is it really? I walked out of there nearly in tears because I thought I failed and also because I didn't get a ton of SATA. Any words of advice? Knowledge?
