What a week! So much illness. Flu, stomach virus, strep, etc.
I did report to our Principal my concerns about how many are out sick.
Do you do anything in particular with regard to extra cleaning from custodial staff when this happens? The truth is, our custodians aren't exactly proactive about sanitizing if you know what I mean. It's all I can do to have them pick up barf bags.

We ask them to spend extra time on the desks, tables, and other places the kids touch but we don't stand there and watch to make sure it's done.

I have to ask very nicely, or else I get 'tude from the head guy. He likes his bread buttered in a certain way. I haven't figured out how yet, and we clash sometimes.

Teachers are proactive here. We have conjunctivitis going through, so when another falls, the teachers bleach wipe everything, as well as the end of the day, with special attention to door knobs and faucets. We have contracted cleaning twice a week in the evenings, not conducive to infection control methods.
Outside of your lack of Psych services, your school sounds pretty darn awesome, MNX2.

More than 2 kids out of a class and the teachers are already on the janitors to super clean or they are just doing it themselves. I really don't have to say anything!
I did email all the teachers and suggested they get sanitizing wipes from the custodians to use to wipe all shared surfaces.
Can't hurt, might help.
Spring break can't get here fast enough!
Most teachers have students here, so they have incentive to squelch it. I really do work with abnormal teachers, they make my work here awesome. We are truly a team for our kids. I keep saying I'm in paradise.

We have 10% of kids out today as well...but not all illness. Many starting their April break early.
