There is just somethings that really bother me, specifically mispronunciation of words. The specific abbreviation that realllllly grinds my gears is when a nurse or CNA/PCT says " O2 STATS" O2 "stat"uration?
Anyone have anything else that people misspell or mispronounce that gets them going??
I think W would disagree....(although I do agree)
I blame his dad for that. During the Bush I presidency, I noticed many conservative acquaintances pronouncing it "nu-cue-ler" on purpose when they previously had pronounced it correctly.
When Palin shot the level of conservative yahoo-ism to stratospheric heights (standing on the shoulders of GWB) I think people started to turn. "Hey maybe we should stop sounding like idiots."
This isn't a pronunciation thing, but the other day the APRN asked me whether my resident had a temperature. Inside my head my response was "well, everyone HAS a temperature, you're wondering whether she's got a fever", but outside my head I just responded that she was afebrile. (I'm still new and don't want to make too much of a name for myself as a wisea$$) That one bugs me for some reason.
Hey Hygiene Queen, I love your attitude!!! When I was 18 years old, living in Alabama, and visiting California, I could not believe how I was made fun of. Just because of my thick Southern accent, many made fun of me and thought me stupid. I always knew I was smart, and proved it by graduating nursing school in my 50's with a 3.8 grade point average!!!! I love to hear different people talk! Our differences make the world go around. Who am I to judge the intelligence of someone not speaking like me?

Parenteral. People will say "parental." A parental injection! No, don't think so!
