Looks like since last year. So, for those who didn't comment on the last thread like this (or who want to comment again) what made you pick your user name? Does it have some meaning, or is it just random? I am always curious about what they actually mean.

Mine is actually from my favorite movie "Army of Darkness".

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

my mother in law was staying with us, and got bored one day when we were both at work. i came home, opened my email program and found all sorts of emails addressed to "rubyv". she'd evidently created a new identity on my outlook express and been posting to some usenet newsgroups, but they were in spanish so i have no idea what it was about. probably a good thing . . . my mother-in-law has always had a dramatic streak and loves to stir up trouble. since m-i-l didn't have a computer or access to one, i just kept the identity for posting on the usenet. evidently allnurses.com already had a "rubyv", so i became "ruby vee".

my tag name comes from

1) match dot com - where you wink at someone when you like them

2) my favorite number

and

3) the name of my maltese "clover". hence, wink4clover.

Specializes in ICU, MICU, SICU.

Mine is my last name in Japanese...at least thats what my friend told me 10 years ago.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Years ago when I was working as a CNA, my coworkers started calling me "Breezy" (which was a play on my first name/nickname).

Also, my favorite dessert as a kid that my mom used to make was called Cherry Breeze (it's a VERY yummy cherry cheesecake), so mine actually comes from two different places as well.

Specializes in ICU/Critical Care.

Sooo... I guess I'm boring.

u have a maltese falcon? and you named it "clover"? very odd.

i would have named it "death jet" or "dark bomber bird" or something cool like that.

Specializes in Psych, OB-GYN.

nickname given to me by my dad when I was born. almost 30 years later, and this is still what he calls me. Never had to use the three-name gig when I was in trouble, calling me anything else meant that I was in trouble and he meant business!

Specializes in Psych, OB-GYN.

oops, double post. Grumpy computer :)

Specializes in ortho, hospice volunteer, psych,.

we have nine cats and a shar pei. i wanted a username that would be different from my usual username.

all the cat-related names i thought of were already taken. i thought of manniesmom but sharpeimom seemed simpler.

You mean its not referring the the marker? Oh. My bad.

I like our interpretation more anyway. I'm going to go on playing dumb and read it that way.

I had this vision of a mom, walking around with a marker in her hand, running the house with an iron fist.

Didn't clean your room? Big "X" on your door which means you can't go out till it is. Don't want to eat your veggies but was eating cake before dinner? Big mark on your forehead and no dessert till it fads off. Little reminder notes written all over the house, right on the walls: "Do not leave dishes in the living room" or "Turn lights out when you are not in the room" and of course "Your mom doesn't live here so clean up your messes."

Well, the last one doesn't work but you get the point.

Mine comes from the Pink Floyd song "Have a Cigar".

"Oh by the way, which one's Pink?".

Love Pink Floyd. :)

Mine is from 'Like A Rolling Stone' by Bob Dylan.

How does it feel..... to be on your own... with no direction home... like a complete unknown... like a rolling stone.

There's no special personal meaning, I'm not even sure why I like the song, I just do!
