OCC - 2009 applicants / 2010 ADN prospective students

U.S.A. Michigan

I just wanted to start a post for all of those OCC students who are waiting to get into the ADN program (regular or accelerated) in 2010. There are only 2 more months until the acceptance letters will be mailed out. Let's keep in touch and keep each other updated!

:hpygrp:

Got my letter today!!! :yeah:Thankfully it was good news. There is an accelerated program offerred this year but, I will be taking the standard. This year only 30 students will be allowed into the accelerated program.I am so happy right now. Anyone else hear back?:)

Best of luck to everyone

CONGRATULATIONS FLORISGURL22!!! I am happy for you as well as to hear that there is an accelerated program!

I will be waiting by my mailbox......

Hi all!

Just got my letter! I got in; my GPA was a 3.87 (I thought I had a 3.9, but I had one A- that I thought was a flat A). There is no GPA information anywhere in the letter as far as averages/cut-offs, etc.

The letters were mailed from Waterford and I live in Ortonville.... not too far. If you are a little further away I would expect your letter tomorrow.

They ARE offerring the accelerated program, but they cut the size down to 30 students. It also will run from May 2010 to October 2011 (I know I was told before that it would conclude in April 2011, not October). I was hoping to make the cut for it, but from all I've heard, all 30 spots are likely to be 4.0 (or very close to it) students.

I just wanted to hop on here and give all the info I had ASAP. I know my stomach had been in knots for days just wondering and stressing (even though we couldn't change anything now).

If you feel you are on the border and get a declination, I would call next week when they have said they will have a GPA cut-off to share with everyone. Then you can keep in mind that 30 people will get into ADN in a "second wave" once the accelerated has been chosen.

Oh! And they are giving those interested in the accelerated program only until March 26th to respond. So for those of you waiting to see if you make "the second wave", I would guess you'd know by early April.

I hope that helps everyone a bit! If you have any questions, let me know, though I did include everything I could think of! haha. :)

BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

-Kelly

hi everyone

i got my letter today also and i made it in with a 3.85 so for those of you that haven't received your letters yet and are above a 3.85 gpa, your in :yeah:CONGRATES

Congratulations to all of you receiving your letters today!! I feel like I've been waiting right there with you, although that will be me next year ;).

Your hard work is finally starting to pay off!! On to your next adventure in the program!

CONGRATS guys!! I am so glad that you all have finally started getting your letters! It lets me know what I need to plan for for next year as well. I hope that the good news keeps coming!!

Hi everyone! I've been reading posts on this site for a year now but just joined so I could get my frustrations out on waiting for my letter! Sooooo happy for those of you who got yours today, and congratulations! Mine didn't come today and I can't stand it! The what if's are driving me crazy like what if they lost my application. I have a 4.0 so I'm confident I'll get in but like I mentioned about the what if's, you never know! Also this decision about the accelerated program is huge! I took 2 years to do my prereqs only taking a couple classes at a time to get those A's so I'm worried I'd flunk out of it or that they just whip through the classes and produce half-ass nurses. I want to be a good nurse. Does anyone have any info about the accelerated program and how it compares to the regular? Congrats again to those who got in!

Thanks everyone for posting your results! It's better to have some information than none at all. Congrats to everyone who is in so far! We all know the hard work it takes to get there. I'll be stalking the mail carrier tomorrow.

I got the letter. I didn't get in. It said I needed 3.774.

So i guess the cutoff is 3.774

Jaaey777 I'm sorry to hear that :( At leat you know what it is that you need to focus on for next year. You can take a few classes this semester and in the fall and the time will fly by!

I am kind of the feeling that I won't get in. I talked to one of my friends yesterday who is 2nd year student nurse said she heard it was 3.7xxx.

So I'm not surprised. I plan to retake some classes for sure.

And probably try alternative--maybe Macomb.

Sorry jaaaey, I bet you can get in next time, dont give up.
