I just wanted to start a post for all of those OCC students who are waiting to get into the ADN program (regular or accelerated) in 2010. There are only 2 more months until the acceptance letters will be mailed out. Let's keep in touch and keep each other updated!

Hi Mocha Latte!

Although I won't be part of this year's group, I'm just wondering if OCC has determined whether or not they will be hosting an accelerated program for the 2010-2011 school year. Have you heard anything?

Nope. I haven't heard or checked back since September when I applied. As far as i knew back then, they were still waiting for the grant.

:grn:

Hi,

I applied this fall as well. I asked the nursing department about the accelerated last week and they haven't gotten a grant yet but, it could still happen.

The accelerated program is in progress as we speak and we are eligible for it this year. I am so excited!

Wow really? I was just in counseling yesterday and asked about it. Thats crazy how the new can change overnight.

At least that's what my counselor told me when I went in last summer. I hope he wasn't just pulling my string because I was really hoping on getting into that program.

When I went in yesterday, the counselor told me that DMC hasn't yet approve the grant for the accelerated program this year. it still may happen as every year the funding came in last minute.

It's so dumb. Why can't they just say they're going to do it and get it over with? It just seems so pointless to keep us up in the air about all of this.

Hi, i'm currently doing my first year of nursing school at OCC and while it is a ton of hard work, it is so worth it! I wish you all the best of luck since i was in your very same shoes last year at this time. the wait is gruesome but having this website really helped me get through it! GOOD LUCK!!:)

Hi,

How is the program working for you? Is it super time consuming? any tidbits would be very helpful.

Hi,

i am in the regular ADN program not accelerated and it is VERY time consuming. I was working 2 12hour shift days a week on top of going to school 4 days a week and i literally had NO LIFE. The program is hard to start off in, but once you get your groove, it is do able! you just cannot get behind! communicate with your teachers, because they are more willing to help you out if you're struggling, and definitely have some friends in class that you can talk to. they will be your new best friends!
