Nursing school student loans.

Nursing Students General Students

I am currently a BSN nursing student. I will graduate in dec 2015 with roughly 23-25k in student loan debt. Most of that wont acquire interest until 6 months after i graduate. I know how to live wayy beneath my means so I plan to pay it all off within the first year and a half of working.

What level of nursing are you?

How much in student loan debt did you graduate with?

Are you still paying it off?

If not, how long did it take to pay it off?

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, that's out of state tuition, in state is approximately $20K when said and done. But an easy $80k for an in state student if one is boarding. Local CC and the state university system (separate from the University of Most Expensive State in the US) are less expensive, of course. I was trying to show how possible it is to spend a lot of money at a public university.

I live in south east texas. I go to a non private university so it is relatively inexpensive. I just cannot fathom having more in debt than I would be making as a nurse, and THEN live with paying that debt off for 7+ years after I graduate. Thats still insane to me.

Meh, it's not something that bothers me. I just pay my bills. I have no regrets and I value the education I received at my university. I bought my house at 27 and I travel outside of the country several times/year so it's not like accruing debt in college is holding me back at all. And when I had my resume professionally reviewed a couple years ago, the reviewer told me I'd be able to go anywhere with it with a degree from a nationally known top 40 university and 5 years at a nationally ranked pediatric hospital.

Thats awesome @KelRn215. Im really happy for you. I hope I am as blessed to be in such a great position later on. Im 22 right now.

Or maybe I will just go to my instructor for proper advice, thanks though

I graduate in Dec and won't have any loans to pay off as long as I get hired into our hospital system. The hospital forgives 80% of our student loan and I've paid cash for the rest.

Does anyone have any suggestions for private loan lenders? I'm doing my research and comparing interest rates, but would like to hear from people who have actually gotten these loans..

BSN here. Just finished up my last exam of my junior year!

I've been working two jobs and living at home while going to school. So far, I haven't had to take out any student loans. I start my second-to-last semester in May and have more than enough money to pay it off!

I hope to graduate without any student loans, and I think that is definitely a possibility!

Is that in a particular area they have forgiveness? IF so, where?

Is that in a particular area they have forgiveness? IF so, where?

As long as we get hired full time into the hospital system that my school is affiliated with, the $10,000 loan is forgiven over 2 years. I'm in NC, attended Carolinas College of Health Sciences, and now work with Carolinas Healthcare System.
