Run-in with a doctor
So could someone please educate me on the professional way to handle this situation? I'm still in nursing school and we haven't discussed issues of run ins with doctors yet. What would you do? I'm sure something of this sort is going to happen at some point in my career. I have a short temper and have never done well with biting tongue regardless of who you think you are. How should one proceed?

Getting license in Florida with a felony drug charge?
Well what would be the point of getting it sealed? That only blocks it to the public. Any board of nursing or hiring hospital is more than likely going to have access to it. Just a thought. I guess going through the hassle of getting it sealed might show you put forth some effort to accept the responsibility, but you're still going to have to check yes/no in that little box that asks if you've ever been arrested or convicted (forms differ) and you're still going to have to explain yourself to the hospital or state since they will see it on your background check.

The real road to becoming a CRNA?
You know, I am wondering that myself.. A good friend of mine just graduated from nursing school in Colorado and while in school she was offered a position in the neuro ICU. I couldn't tell you what your or my chances are. I guess it really depends on where you live and what's available. I live in Florida and don't know if I'll be able to snag an ICU position as a new grad, but I SURE HOPE SO.

Not a CRNA, but I have a similar path. I'm halfway through my ABSN program and am planning to take the road of CRNA. Good luck to you starting your program. ABSN is tough, but awesome! It has really shown me that I can accomplish ANYTHING. Best of luck to you.

What are the Florida acclerated programs actually like?
I'm in an accelerated program now and the workload is crazy. Many of the traditional students in the regular program say "I don't know how you do it"...I say "I have no idea", and I honestly don't, but it really is doable IF you apply yourself. Yea I might have to spend my nights studying instead of watching TV and I don't have as much time to do things I enjoy, but it's only a year and I want it. 99% of my free time is spent studying. It is such a fast paced (i.e. accelerated) program that I feel like I have to stay ahead. If I fall behind, it's over. There is an equal amount of lab time/clinicals + lecture time. I feel it's spaced pretty evenly. All of my professors have demonstrated a desire for my success and most of them are pretty good, some of them are amazing.. Any nursing program is going to have some disorganization so just be prepared that not everything is going to go as planned. It is not easy, in fact, it's the hardest thing I've ever done, but...I'm halfway through it so I'm just gonna keep trucking along.

first job or wait
Hi all. I'm getting ready to graduate with my BSN soon. I know that I want to live and work in Jacksonville, however I feel that I have a better shot of securing a job in the Orlando area. What should I do? Do I take a job in Orlando (if offered of course) and quit as soon as I am offered a position in Jacksonville? Would that be really bad to do as a new nurse? or...should I work some random job in Jacksonville until a nursing position is available... TIA.

Care plans and concept maps resources
Hey everyone! Soon I will be beginning my second semester of my ABSN program (YAY!) This semester I'll have acute/chronic, which I believe is the same as med/surg... Anyway, I'm hearing a lot about having to create care plans and concept maps so I wanted to use this time to get a head start and learn how to write them. I don't have my textbook list yet. Can anyone recommend good resources for making both of these items? I've read on here that the Nanda book on Amazon is popular (see link below), but that doesn't give any rationalization so...I'm looking for other resources. TIA! http://www.amazon.com/Nursing-Diagnoses-2015-17-Classification-International/dp/1118914937/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1419253643&sr=1-1
