Nursing diagnosis "altered energy field"

"Altered energy diagnosis"

Do you support this NANDA diagnosis? Or do you feel that this diagnosis threatens the legitamacy of our profession? Nanda still stands behind it. What are your thoughts?

A patient just left my house that might get you to thinking about what some of us do. She came to see me because of bursitis (confirmed by MRI) and she didn't want to get another every six months shot of steroids. This was the only complaint I was aware of. I like to work on people and tell them what's going on as many times they forget what happened years or do not see a connection. The bursitis was in her right hip. Her Large Intestine meridian as well as Gall Bladder Meridian in that leg was "begging for mercy" and tender as could be. I asked her if anything was going on with her actual intestines and she said ahe has bouts of IBS since 1992. I asked her what happened around that time and she said she went through a bad divorce and had no job.

While working on her left leg at her knee, I stopped and asked her what happened to her knee. She remembered fracturing her patella in high school while chasing her boyfriend up some stairs. (She's in her forties now). I told her something else has also happened and she told me about fracturing her ankle in the same leg while skiing. I could feel the energetic disturbances there. Her body still remembered the trauma.

While holding my hands on her hips, she said that it felt like a "light going on inside." Near the end of the session, while holding her hips again...and on her Gall Bladder (GB) meridian, she said it felt hot then cold through her leg. While holding a GB point on her shoulder, she said that she could feel something going down to her knee. I told her to hold on and "we'll open that baby up." Then she told me that she could feel current going all the way down the side of her leg into her foot.

Now, do I need a machine to measure all that for me? I hope not.

Now, Brother Josh will interpret for you what happened. Josh, she also had a history of ballet dancing, vision problems and Rosacea. Please explain to these folks what's going on. :)

ouch!

I apologize for an overly emotional response. My grand uncle also died in a Mexican clinic chasing a miracle cure for treatable lung cancer. He was a successful farmer that used vets on his animals but for some reason, did not trust hospitals or doctors. In the end he lost his life AND his farm.

What you experienced with your granduncle is not that usual. The NYT had an article, yesterday, concerning people just like him. Most of lost hope and see nothing is to be lost. Many are at the 12 month stage of their disease and see a fault with the current system. Most have had health care givers tell them theirs is the only way and dismiss alternative therapeuties.

Grannynurse

My granduncle did not die from cancer. He died from the treatments. Many cancers have a short window where treatment is possible. Delaying surgery/chemo/radiation to try bogus alternatives is sad. Promoting bogus alternatives to cancer patients should be criminal.

Is zenman really an alternate personality for Grannynurse? How many are there out there?

OOps! I am kidding again!

Sorry, I was in the hospital when you made your 'cute' remark. Kind of difficult for me to be in three places at once.

granny nurse, I was thinking about it, and I realized that apparently I threaten you on some level. I want you to know that it is not my intent to be intimidating. I tend to stand back from concepts and study them as objectively as possible. I love to hear so many diverse thoughts.

I kid with people that I like. It is just my attempt to lighten the mood a bit.

OK, folks, it's time to give this thread a bit of a rest so the mods can review it. I'm sorry to do this, because it's obviously a popular discussion, but it's become too personal, it's way off topic, and it needs a time-out.:stone
